Something is diagetic if it exists in the story and is experienced by the characters. Quest markers and subtitles are (usually) non-diagetic. A contrived linear pathway has to be diagetic because the character interacts with it.

Not really an applicable concept. You can say that it "lacks verisimilitude" or "is a contrivance" but it doesn't really have anything to do with diagesis.

It would be interesting to have a game where your "downtime phase" takes up vastly more in-fiction time than your adventuring. Like you went dungeon delving on your breaks, and simulated an entire semester of school in between each session. Years could pass over the course of a campaign.

Elves are, on average, slightly shorter than humans. I know Tolkien made them tall, and I don't care.
Related, it's fun when "human" refers to all playable species and the big folk with roundish ears are "tallmen."

Some games have you rotate a card 90 degrees to indicate that it has been activated or expended. Maybe you can work that into the art somehow?
