I worked at the VA for 8 years. It was difficult, rules were a PIA, but my fellow employees were among the finest people I ever met. All of them could make mich more $ in private practice but they stayed because they supported our Vets. Unlike Private bonespurs!

The standard lecture in med school was for a prof to stand up in class with a beaker of urine ( or blood) and stick a finger in it and then lick his/her finger. He would ask students to do the same.
Before they swallowed he would point out he used different fingers.
Lesson: Always observe!

You forgot to mention to uncontrolable coughing and massive tracheal secretions pouring out of the lungs. Even sedated(ie paralyzed ) the secretions kill.
Diptheria suffocates the kid or destroys their heart with a toxin. Last US epidemic in San Antonio in 1960s ( I saw it). No mandates then.

I am 72 years old and saw Diptheria in San Antonio ( in the last US epidemic) and dead kids from SSPE measles and sterilized boys from mumps orchitis in medical school in the 1970s
We may be going back!
These are deadly diseases. The deaths of American will be blood on RFK’s hands.
