I can't put into words just how much rage I feel towards Biden. His hubris and arrogance to run for reelection led us to this moment. He was the wrong president at the worst time. His failures will stay with us for decades and will ultimately destroy this country by allowing a fascist takeover.

i have too much work to do today to ruminate on the fact that four years ago, i covered the riot at the capitol in disguise because proud boys had circulated my picture with instructions to attack me on sight & now they’re all about to get pardons.

RIP Jimmy Carter, a man so moral, decent and godly that he spent the last 44 years of his life apologizing for being president.

It’s weird that Jimmy Carter helped funnel $100 million to the Khmer Rouge to elevate Pol Pot and isolate the Vietnamese, indirectly causing one of the worst genocides of the post-war period, and yet he’s still probably the least evil president in living memory. RIP king!

Werner Herzog: Something as organic as a cheesecake is too feeble for the American mind, to even enjoy it as a concept they must remove its reality, let you know it was conceived in industrial horrors Waitress:...Okay WH: The cheeseburger spring rolls sound like a delightful abomination. Thank you

When I said I would do anything for my family and my country I only meant stuff I already like doing, like shooting guns for instance. If I have to do something annoying like conserve resources then obviously I'm not willing to do that

BREAKING: Starbucks Workers United is going on strike. Tomorrow unionized Starbucks workers are walking out in multiple key cities. And @sbworkersunited.org's rolling strike will grow in the coming days. 537 stores and 10,000+ workers are in the union and could potentially strike.

BREAKING: The biggest strike against Amazon in U.S. history is happening right now. The Teamsters are picketing facilities across the country. The union has organized workers at 10 Amazon locations AND they're putting up picket lines at hundreds of other Amazon sites nationwide.

On the scene of the Amazon strike in Maspeth, the NYPD is trying to break the picket, engaging in arrests of union members and engaging in physical confrontations with workers and their supporters.

The Teamsters will launch the largest strike against Amazon in U.S. history beginning at 6 a.m. EST on Thurs., Dec. 19. The nationwide action follows Amazon’s repeated refusal to follow the law and bargain with the thousands of Amazon workers who organized with the Teamsters. Let's fucking go! 🔥

democrats love to be like “we lost the last election and life is going to be incalculably worse for everyone for decades. they’re angry and ready to do something over the issue of healthcare. we have to stop them from caring immediately”

In all seriousness, we need a plan to protect healthcare CEOs from potential violence. I propose tempering the vitriol by completely nationalizing their industries into a single federal health insurance system.

A bill to break up UnitedHealth, CVS, Cigna and more has been introduced by a bipartisan group of U.S. senators and representatives. The legislation would force insurers to sell their pharmacy businesses. It aims to combat PBMs, pharma middlemen who drive up costs.

Hardline activist who raised the idea of jailing women for abortions gets top policy job in Trump administration amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/12/...

This is actually a good sign, the last one especially. I would be worried if Trump voters were real ideological conservatives. The fact that they’re just people who’ve been intentionally unmoored from reality means they can still be reclaimed.

It's rare you get such a clear illustration of whose lives have value in America and whose don't

So are the Syrian rebels good guys? Wasn’t the leader in Al Qaeda? Did we make up with them?

this is swinging dangerously close to matthew vaughn screenplay territory

Scoop: After the LA Times published a piece about Elon Musk that carried a headline owner Patrick Soon-Shiong didn't like, a new rule was implemented: Prior to publishing opinion stories, headlines must be emailed to Soon-Shiong, where he can then choose to weigh in. www.status.news/p/los-angele...

For those confused about South Korea, an “opposition party” is a political party that actively opposes the one in power.

I find it very rude that other countries keep dunking on us by not rewarding coups

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions has announced that it will begin an indefinite general strike tomorrow, demanding the immediate resignation of President Yoon Suk-yeol.

with Biden’s lockstep support for genocide in Gaza, there emerged a cottage industry of excuse-making, ranging from Feigned Helplessness to 18 dimensional chess to the Israel lobby forcing him. As he exits office, I propose a simpler explanation: he just agrees w/ it therealnews.com/biden-suppor...

hate to beat a dead horse, but i will be angry for the rest of my life at everyone who had the opportunity to put this guy in cuffs and perp walk him in jan/feb 2021 and passed, and all their enablers in the press and politics who were content to move on to “normal” politics.

The lawyer that represented Asian students who helped break Affirmative because they thought Black students were less qualified and shouldn't have gotten in. is now suing because Asian enrollment is down at select Ivy-league schools. Come to find out, it is white students who have always benefited.

losing my mind

liberals will blame "misinformation" "Russian oligarchs" etc etc with out every thinking "maybe the core problem is actually this whole profit stuff"

Peter Thiel has been going “democracy is bad because women vote against libertarianism” for like a quarter century and people are still doing this “Silicon Valley was forced right” thing

I wrote about UNION, the gripping and much-needed documentary about the Amazon Labor Union, and why it hasn't gotten a distribution deal (spoiler: Bezos has too much money/power). You can stream it on Gathr this weekend and you should! slate.com/culture/2024...

Remember what they took from you.

I like echo chambers cause I’m a chill guy who likes to laugh at posts while I wait for the train without seeing what “FinalSolution88” thinks about immigration.

"“Democrats do not fight for us” — not pronouns or support for open borders or Black Lives Matter marches — was the thing conflicted voters volunteered as top beefs time and again, across hundreds of focus groups." www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol... Last night, 19 Senators voted to end illegal arms sales to Israel. We stood up to AIPAC, the Democratic Senate leadership, and the Biden administration. We must continue going forward to end illegal arms sales and hold Netanyahu accountable for his war crimes.

It’s difficult to overstate what a huge deal this is. Perhaps, dare we hope, justice is finally coming for the people of Gaza. A first, historic step.

It’s not hard to not be a total dick to trans people, I’m literally doing it right now, sitting on my couch, not doing it. Too many in media and an entire Republican Party, and a number of overpaid Dem consultants, flunk this remarkably easy test, it’s like most people failing to blink

despite the world becoming scary i still have a perhaps niave but unwaivering belief that a better world is possible

Going on Twitter now feels unmistakably like watching Uncut Gems.

No one thinks McBride is a threat to anyone. Pulling this shit only further confirms that the anti-trans stuff was never about safety. It’s performative cruelty to dehumanize and humiliate trans people.

"The issue is not that deliverism failed. It is that Democrats convinced themselves that they had delivered, without listening to the voters telling them they had not." From Annie Lowrey. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
