Freelancer, here - DO NOT USE AI TO HANDLE YOUR CONTRACTS!!!! I get that they’re dense legal language but LEARN TO READ AND UNDERSTAND THEM so you know what you are signing! DO NOT OUTSOURCE COMPREHENSION.

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but 2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but 3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So 4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

Everytime you face an artistic challenge that seems beyond your skill there are 2 great opportunities: 1. You could give it a shot anyway, and learn something new. 2. You could find someone who has that skill and make them feel appreciated. Both of these will enrich your life. AI will rob you.

Country applauding his 25 hours of speeching about how to do better and the dude just walks off the stage to vote for genocide. Just 15 elected Senators aren't fully pro-genocide, pro-apartheid, pro-gang rape, pro-massacres, pro-human rights violations. Is that just the very best the US can be?

This horrific story has been confirmed to me by a colleague at the same institute as this scientist. The US is not a safe place to run an academic conference. @theguardian.com have an English language version of this story: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... 🔭🧪

Western press going "why the ceasefire broke down is complex and multifaceted' you disgraces to journalism and humanity the ceasefire broke down because Israel kept murdering, starved the concentration camp, didn't keep to any agreement, and then straight-up started massacring Gaza again

Lmao Gemini and Grok having a hard time being correct at ALL is just the cherry on the shitcake.

If you haven't switched out of US- & billionaire-ran WhatsApp, I can strongly recommend Signal. Works the same, but doesn't benefit rich assholes. It's a super straight-forward switch. If you're already on Signal, consider making a donation for the cool rocket badge. It's a really cool badge.

Not a single person has yet been able to answer THE question: Why should we expect people to engage with a character that NOBODY EVEN BOTHERED TO MAKE.

There hasn't been a single game in my life where I've thought, "Man I wish could ask this NPC absolutely anything I want and they'd respond." Even if I had, it'd be novel for about 2 minutes. I'll take 50 handcrafted lines from an actual writer than 1 million from a glorified chat bot any day.

AAA games industry: live service, multiplayer, season passes, gazillion dollar budgets, laying off half their staff even if the products are successful Meanwhile at Okomotive: Here’s a linear adventure game about going up a mountain with a bunch of weird yaks RT if u agree🥰

Flow was made in Blender and cost only $3.7 million -- but it defeated Hollywood at the Oscars. This is a huge moment for its team. It's just as huge for European animation, and the ecosystem that nurtured Flow, Robot Dreams and so many other films: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/flow-takes...

Are you a science- and paleo-obsessed 3D-artist? Come to Zurich and work with us for two years on the prototype for a mind-blowing mini-diorama that will eventually feature 650 million years of evolution! 🤗🌿🦕🐜🦀🧪 www.artstation.com/jobs/2X8m #SciArt #3D-modelling #3D-modeling #3D-printing

American companies folding in real time to an Orwellian fascism should be a wake-up call to all of us who are too dependent on American software.

I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist. Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

Also shows those AI companies never had a moat outside of ensuring it is too cost-prohibitive for competitors to train a model. US export bans forced researchers around the world to be smarter instead of just scaling up, and the outcome is honestly hilarious to me. www.cnbc.com/2025/01/27/n...

A bit miffed that a lot of the game writing discourse I see still avoids the elephant in the room, aka: the English language as its obligatory baseline. Not only as the tool we all have to use, but also English (US) being the the only valid aesthetic framework for what is considered quality.

Once again, AI understands nothing. This happens 'cause it doesn't know what water is or what freezing is or what a degree is or what temperature is. It doesn't even know what "correct" or "incorrect" is. It's all just algorithmic, statistics-based mimicry of patterns. Let's have it run our lives!

No one has yet been able to answer my fundamental question: why should anyone bother playing through a story that no one bothered to write?????? Players want and DESERVE good story crafted by artisans, not AI slop.

Again, my utmost respect for @polygon.com for reporting on Dreams on a Pillow when so many sites and influencers that claim to stand for inclusivity and diversity and equality have ducked speaking about the genocide, about Palestine, and about Palestinian stories. www.polygon.com/gaming/50447...

It sums up what has long been my biggest gripe with AI: Not the ethics nor the sheer waste of resources, It's the destruction of our internet. Everything AI touches has become useless. From image search to marketplaces and social networks. A lot of things are probably irreversibly destroyed by now.

everything about this new Meta AI bot is so dystopian but for me the AI-generated images of nonexistent donated coats is up there

"The only clue that users seemingly had of Siri's alleged spying was eerily accurate targeted ads that appeared after they had just been talking about specific items like Air Jordans or brands like Olive Garden"

What have I done... 😱 Send help My personal challenge: reassemble it from memory.

fuck humble bundle actually

A gentle breeze rocks the house of cards.

Catly is 10000% AI Generated slop be serious 💀 - When asked directly they dodged the question - Named after AI Generated Cat Bitcoin - The founder (Kevin Yeoung) scrubbed his data from linkedin. But he has a history in "finance" - No actual gameplay

20 year game industry coder here. I keep seeing posts like this and I keep being surprised at just how naive people are being about the potential for pure generative AI to somehow be the way way game are made. These tech demos are neat, but this is never going to happen 🧵

This isn’t how level design works you c*nts
