The proposal by Bhattacharya to use data from Indian Health Services to study autism is outrageous and should be fought tooth and nail. I have had the honor of working with Tribes on research projects. The steps for approval are many and lengthy, as they should be for this vulnerable population.

“While in the interrogation room, Makled said, a man in plain clothes entered and began speaking to him. He said he recalls the man telling him: ‘We know you're a lawyer. We know you take on big cases.’”

Y’all know what to do

I'm sorry, but isn't this just the Cultural Revolution 2.0? Why on earth would fired aid workers and NIH medical researchers go to work on assembly lines for worse salaries in jobs they don't know how to do? Why are they getting their economic policy from Mao?

The ability of people to access federal programs should not be a function of whether federal administrators personally like or dislike a state's governor. www.huffpost.com/entry/janet-...

A mother and her three children were snatched by ICE from a dairy farm in Sackets Harbor, a rural town in northern New York. But the location is no coincidence—Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, LIVES THERE. He allowed his own neighbors, including a third grader, to be jailed. Deplorable.

Exactly zero people in the military want this. Summer is annual training season for the National Guard and Reserve units. It's PCS season for active duty. The 14th is usually a day off for the Army. No one wants to cancel their training schedule in order to practice Drill and Ceremony. ZERO PEOPLE.

Encouraging news I would've missed if it weren't for Liz's weekly update: "The Rutgers University Senate passed a resolution proposing a Mutual Defense Compact in which members of the Big Ten conference will pool funding and legal, policy, and communications capacity and expertise." More of this!

Absolutely incredible photo choice here. A+

I've already had two federal grants terminated and face a 33% pay cut due to future terminations. It's painful, but not as painful as the conversations I'm having every day with brilliant trainees in graduate school and postdoctoral positions who see little future for themselves in US science.

Yall want to see a terrible golf swing

Every accusation is an admission. Every. Single. Time.

I spoke to a South Carolina woman today who is miscarrying - her fetus has no heartbeat - but the state's ban is preventing doctors from taking action. She has to walk around with a dead fetus for another week so she can get a FOURTH ultrasound. This is what bans do.

Hahahaha go fuck yourself Elon

Roast this fucking grifter shithead.

they are not just ending careers with these layoffs, the functional result is going cauterize entire career *paths.* you cannot possibly overstate the damage these layoffs are doing to the ability for anyone to have a career of "being a scientist" in this country.

Sen. Jim Banks told a laid off U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) employee who approached him that they “probably deserved it” and they “seem like a clown.”

@vanhollen.senate.gov @alsobrooks.senate.gov @raskin.house.gov let’s go. Time to flush these fetid turds. Need to see ppl in handcuffs.

Farcical bullshit www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

“I think pretty much every legislator in Olympia knows him. He’s a serious young man who really wants to fight for justice, and he knows how to express himself and he’s tireless. He is like 24/7 on immigrant rights and farmworker rights.” www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

“Physicians at Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock, Texas, say they’ve now treated a handful of children who were given so much vitamin A that they had signs of liver damage. Some of them had received unsafe doses of supplements for several weeks in an attempt to prevent a measles infection”

You should be utterly embarrassed by this posturing @thirdwaymattb.bsky.social. What a joke.

Dems are a joke. We need a viable third party so badly.

I'd love to hear Democratic politicians talk about the importance of community, of being friendly with our neighbors and finding ways to trust & help each other more. Convinced that increasing cultural isolation is a big part of why everyone's now an asshole driver and our politics are so fucked.

Just been casually reminiscing about how the world's leading investment banks all coughed up about $200m each in fines for their employees' unauthorised use of WhatsApp, for a total haul to the US purse of well over $2 billion.

For context, the Democrat in charge of oversight turns 75 this week and is actively dying of a terminal illness. bsky.app/profile/aman...

I'm Kat Abughazaleh and I'm running for Congress.

Part 1 on neighbors being disappeared by the US government.

Perhaps the most concise way to think about this is that Musk has pranced around bragging about cracking down on fraud and abuse, finding the bad guys. Meanwhile what he's actually done is enable perhaps the biggest splurge of fraud and tax cheating in history. For him and his pals.

My god these people are such insipid losers.

Sanders: In our form a government, unless you are a coward, you don’t sue the media because they report on things you don’t like.

I’ve now watched this clip like 10 times and it’s instant first ballot hall of fame. One of the most comically out of touch things I’ve ever heard heard from a public official.

we’re past denying he bought this place but it’s wild that he really bought it for cheap too

Let’s hope that this spring isn’t as filled with severe weather as last spring was, Omaha… @ketv7.bsky.social @wowt6news.bsky.social @owhnews.bsky.social

They're abducting people for the suspected views of their spouses in the middle of fucking Georgetown

Cool we're North Korea now

When I wrote my camps book, people sometimes had difficulty understanding how concentration-camp regimes were proud of what they were doing and wanted attention for it, even as they also hoped to keep many aspects secret and terrorize vulnerable classes. Anyway, this is what that looks like.

You may not recognize it at first, but life in this country will never be the same if people stop coming from abroad because they are not guaranteed protection under the law. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/16/u...

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is not obscure, it's essential. There is a 100% chance that whatever your local library or museum is they have benefitted from IMLS money in the past, they are the largest grant funder of local libraries in the US.

Trump administration has identified words to be banned on government websites or at least be wary of using. Among them: women, race, injustice, climate science, pollution, victim, historically. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
