Illinoisans deserve a good education. Illinoisans deserve affordable health care. Illinoisans deserve to be able to thrive. And we're making sure with our seventh proposed balanced budget, Illinoisans get what they need and deserve.

Chicago Pride Pharmacy is a critical access point for patients with HIV in Lombard, but they're getting hit hard by pharmacy benefit managers. Unfairly high prices from PBMs have put a strain on them and their customers. It's past time we reform their unfair practices.

For too long, pharmacy benefit managers have been the middlemen between Illinoisans and their prescriptions, adding costs without real value. Greater transparency and major industry reform are needed — the Prescription Drug Affordability Act reins in their predatory practices.

After the State of the State yesterday, I headed over to a roundtable discussion to hear how pharmacy benefit managers have driven the cost of prescription drugs up at the expense of families. This is an industry that needs regulation. Illinoisans need and deserve nothing less.

Here in Illinois, ten years ago we saw the consequences of a rampant ideological gutting of government. It genuinely harmed people. Our citizens hated it. Trust me – I was elected based in part on just how much they hated it.

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame. The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight. It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

Donald Trump's administration with a Republican Congress and Elon Musk intends to take our essential programs away. Let me be clear, that's going to affect your daily lives. Our state budget can't make up for the damage that's done if they succeed.

Here in Illinois, we're making education more attainable, affordable, and accessible. We want to make sure our students can apply to our public universities with no fees and full confidence. And enabling community colleges to offer the programs for in-demand career paths.

One of the biggest challenges people are facing is housing. The Director of Housing Solutions proposed a slate of reforms to unlock new financing, attract capital, incentivize builders, and eliminate barriers. This year, we put those recommendations to work.

Corporations are hiking up prices to drive profits, while everyday Illinoisans are stuck with the bill. It's not right — and we're calling them out and doing something about them in our state. We’re taking more steps to increase access to health care and lower the costs.

It's traditions like today that bring together all our branches of government to stand in respect of each other - that underpins the guardrails of our democracy. The only power that the Constitution truly recognizes is power that's capable of humbling itself before our people.

Grateful to be delivering my seventh State of the State and Budget Address today. For 207 years, Illinois governors have stood before the General Assembly to do what our first constitution mandated with messages reflecting the unique times they've served. Tune in at 12 PM CT.

Getting ready for tomorrow, Illinois.

When I became governor, I promised to put state government back on the side of working families.
2025 is no different – we're building on our progress for everyone in our state.
Watch live at 12 PM CT tomorrow.

Donald Trump ran on the promise that he'd lower costs. Instead, Illinoisans are paying the price of the Trump’s Tax on Working Families. And worst of all, he'll keep taking away health care, child care, and more for the middle class – all for his friends at Mar-a-Lago.

With world-renowned achievements in athletics, literature, architecture, education, journalism, and history, the 2025 Class of Lincoln Laureates embodies the very best that Illinois has to offer. Incredibly proud to award them our state’s highest honor.

It's an exciting time to be a Saluki! SIU Carbondale is officially among the top research schools in the US as they've been designated an R1 university. A boost for our students, Carbondale, and the entire state.

Exciting to see what Mars Snacking is creating behind the scenes at the Global Innovation Center in their HQ in Chicago. The state-of-the-art facility is the company's largest research and development hub — ensuring Illinoisans can see how they push the boundaries first.

United is flying more seats from Chicago than they have in the past 20 years. And now, they're ramping up their capacity at O'Hare because they see the potential in Illinois thanks to our workforce and economy. A win for our entire state.

We’re strengthening Illinois’ global status as an innovation hub and driving small business growth statewide. By partnering with our higher education institutions, these small businesses will transform groundbreaking ideas into tangible products and services.

Russell Beyer. Vicente Juarez. Clayton Parks. Josh Pinkard. Trevor Wehner. Six years later, their names and stories will never be forgotten. May their memories be a blessing.

17 years ago, life irrevocably changed for those at NIU. Since then, the anniversaries of Parkland and Kansas City parade shootings are marked today. Gun violence shouldn't be a fact of life in our nation — we must end this uniquely American problem.

Today, I spoke with leaders from the Illinois Beef, Corn Growers, Pork Producers, and Soybean Associations to discuss the impacts of Trump's Tax on Working Families on farmers. Grocery prices are already too high — we must protect our ag industry and Illinoisans from this chaos.

ICYMI: Illinois was ranked seventh in the nation to raise a family. The investments we've made from education to parks in our state have made us an example of what it is to put Illinoisans at the forefront. I won't stop fighting until we're number one.

Celebrating our 37th Valentine’s Day and it still feels like the very first. I love you, MK.

Folks, I'm delivering the 2025 State of the State and Budget Address on Feb 19 at 12 PM CT. I’ll be discussing what we’ve done together to demonstrate fiscal responsibility, deliver for working families, and set up Illinois for success. Mark your calendars.

Thanks to my administration's economic agenda, Illinois doubled private sector investments from $6.3 billion in 2023 to $12.5 billion in 2024 - quadrupling the number of retained jobs in our state.

The numbers are clear. The State of Illinois hit $2 billion in record-setting cannabis sales, generating more than $490 million in tax revenue. Five years after we legalized adult-use cannabis, we’re seeing the economic impact of a thriving cannabis industry.

If we never try, we shall never succeed. Words to live by from one of Illinois' very own. Happy 216th Birthday, President Lincoln.

I’m so pleased to welcome the Aspen Ideas: Climate Conference to Chicago. Our state is a proud leader in the Midwest in fighting climate change, and Chicago is the perfect place to host such an important gathering.

Donald Trump is making you pay more for beer so he can give tax breaks to the wealthy.

It's in Karina Gonzalez and her daughter Daniela's memories that I sign Karina's Law today. A step in the right direction toward protecting survivors of domestic violence and giving them the comfort of knowing their abuser will not have easy access to firearms.

JD Vance is saying the quiet part out loud: the Trump administration intends to break the law. America is a nation of laws. The courts make sure we follow the laws. The VP doesn’t control the courts, and the President cannot ignore the Constitution. No one is above the law.
