I sometimes wonder how many people outside the Black community know about this…. “Eleven people were killed, including five children and the founder of the organization. Sixty-one homes were destroyed, and more than 250 citizens were left homeless.” www.vox.com/the-highligh...

Really is insane seeing people claiming that it's good for trans people that they were banned from the US Military because the US Military is evil. Maybe you could argue that it's good for the world that the USA is making its military worse by arbitrarily banning people, but it isn't...

Jackie Gleason, in a small supporting role in All Through the Night (1942): "The first one of those guys I tag, I'm gonna kick'm right in the swastika." clip.cafe/all-through-...

randomly getting mad over an indignity i suffered almost 20 years ago and realizing the current collapse of everything is rubbing everyone's soul raw. be gentle with yourselves and your comrades these days, friends.

MY LITTLE GOLDEN BOOK ABOUT PRIDE comes out today and I'm feeling extremely Ralph Wiggum "I'm in danger" about it. It's beautiful though and I love it no matter what they say

This BBC graphic is a good way to show why reciprocal 25% tariffs will cause prices on some goods to go up far more than 25%. A piston used in a car engine made in Michigan will cross the U.S. border twice, and will be taxed 25% each time. Some products cross the U.S. border even more than that.

Papaya and pineapple damn they really dgaf about anything in the 50s

1. Today, Senate Democrats showed spine, and killed a national transgender sports ban bill via filibuster. Not a SINGLE Democrat voted for cloture. S. Baum writes about what happened today, including some of the speeches. Subscribe to support our journalism.

Common sense

Either transgender Americans are important enough to warrant year after year of breathless coverage questioning their healthcare and existence, or they're so insignificant that destroying their rights is the "least consequential" action of a presidency. www.readtpa.com/p/not-exactl...

As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

Post the amazing science things you have done with federal funding.

This is amazing! More evidence of those pesky medieval folk being so colour crazy. Colours everywhere, their clothes would have made 1970s hippies go "that's a bit much" ;)

It is truly fucking wild how the introductory thesis of this argument is, "As we all know, men will find any loophole they can to be sex criminals and degenerates. My primary source on this is me, a degenerate."

It’s March, the month my novel Woodworking comes out! It has starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and Booklist! Order it here: bookshop.org/p/books/wood... When I changed my name to Emily St. James, I didn’t know a poet also had that name. Buy her book too! bookshop.org/p/books/shat...

The other sin here is thinking that these issues are separable in the first place. They aren't. These dots are not separate or even separable issues. Believing that you can parse anti-DEI from "RFK Jr. And Science" and "trans issues" as if they're not intimately linked is beyond foolish.

Every day should be like this for all of them. ALL OF THEM. ALL THE TIME. EVERYWHERE THEY GO. They shouldn't be able to go out to eat, to relax, to vacation, to shop, without someone making a noise.

Can confirm. Former USAID here, and I’ve been approached twice in the last 30 days.

It's not that hard to see trans people as equally human and deserving of respect

"Trump and Vance crossed a giant moral Rubicon today. They showed the entire world the full fetid awfulness of their vision" -- my colleague @sashaabramsky.bsky.social on Trump's disgraceful behavior at the White House yesterday www.thenation.com/article/poli...

"so few lives." in the same breath as noting that it's outsized and outstandingly cruel to target such a small population. I don't think this person actually understands what the words they're using mean.

Re-sharing with alt text. This is so deeply repugnant. The NYT has utterly failed us when it comes to political coverage. Follow independent and local media/journalists instead. Starter packs to follow.

Brutal.

my reasonable centrist betters tell me that it is ridiculous to suggest that the trump administration is filled with segregationists but here again they are forcing out a high-ranking, high-preforming black woman for reasons www.reddit.com/r/fednews/s/...

Hard to understate how angry and full of contempt I am that every D senator present voted to confirm Rubio.

This is from 2022 but is only going to get more and more true as the world burns from here on out isn't it

ok, cis folks—if you said you'd stand with trans folks, it's time. S.9 is the senate's sports ban bill—a big step to making trump’s executive order a federal law, which is much harder to undo. it can be stopped *monday.* short call scripts for dem & GOP senators ⬇️🧵 legiscan.com/US/bill/SB9/...

Hello new followers, I have a YouTube channel where I talk about trans related news, dunk on transphobes, and try to help build the morale and momentum of the trans rights movement! Come check it out! www.youtube.com/@KatyMontgom... CONTENT WARNING: I AM BRITISH 🤢

Nothing like a little self-promotion while the world is on fire, but that's life in 2025, I guess.

it's only doomscrolling if it's from the mount doom area of mordor, otherwise it's just sparkling panic

Absolutely overwhelmed to be in the presence of the first-ever printed book to use the Cherokee syllabary, the Cherokee Constitution of 1827. At the American Antiquarian Society.

I agree with Parker here: a significant chunk (if not most) of the leopards-eating-faces stories we are seeing right now are better framed as "the mainstream media knowingly misled their readers/viewers by covering Trump's obviously false campaign statements as though he weren't a pathological liar

Woodworking is out in FIVE DAYS. Order it here: bookshop.org/p/books/wood... I want to talk about cisgendered representation. It was important to me to get the cis experience right, so when cis readers said I got it wrong, I LISTENED. These are some of the cis characters in the book. 🧵

There is some amazing stuff in this bundle, well worth it for Tunic 🦊

Pedro Pascal responding to transphobia on social media: “I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.” (via @charliejane.bsky.social) [capitalfm.com]

I've been screaming this for years.

Hello friends! You may be aware that Ramadan is around the corner (1 March). I'm taking an extended social media break to work on a number of projects and generally reflect on our state of affairs. I'm pinning this thread of friends in Gaza who need continued help and support. Be well friends. 🧵

Lunch sketch.

More thoughts on Eleanor Rykener in the BL's #MedievalWomen exhibition. Her inclusion is majorly important, not just because of *her* importance as a beacon of trans visibility in the historical record, but also the current anti-trans environment in the UK & elsewhere

Hey all, you should check out Ronin Island, by @gregpak.net At its core, it asks "what do you do when your community claims to be inclusive and equitable, but you know it isn't, then it asks you to save it even though you know it wouldn't save you?"

Merit is when you hire don jr’s buddy who has no experience whatsoever. Racism is when you hire a black person who is qualified for the job. bsky.app/profile/kath...

Something to understand about the nazi salute nonsense is that back during Reconstruction there was a cottage industry of Klan denial, where Democratic papers would pretend the KKK didn't exist or point to their stupid rituals as evidence they were a Republican delusion or otherwise harmless
