Here’s what is going on. When you start firing the military’s top lawyers, that means you are getting ready to order the military to do unlawful things. Trump replaces those JAGs with men who will justify any future unlawful and unethical actions that he wants the military to do.

The Trump regime's segregationist agenda is clear. I argue that having a Black man as president of white America enraged a portion of this country so much, that they decided to destroy any pipeline to Black advancement in academia, government, & workplaces. karenattiah.substack.com/p/trumps-seg...

Gift link. A small unelected, secretive crew now has free access to sensitive private data of everyone. And Musk is already publicly targeting family members of judges who rule against the administration. If this isn’t ringing alarm bells, I don’t know what would. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

A massive, self-inflicted wound on American higher education.

Stop mass deportations with this one simple trick: wapo.st/41apYFB (gift link)

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

If you look at all the firings across the government over the last two weeks it's frequently been taken as a given that any black or woman official or officer is either a DEI hire or supports DEI and is summarily fired on that basis. Seems like the same model here.

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

Let's say their names: * General CQ Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: FIRED FOR BEING BLACK * Admiral Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations: FIRED FOR BEING FEMALE * Admiral Linda Fagan, Coast Guard Commandant: FIRED FOR BEING FEMALE All replaced by less qualified white guys.

Be clear about what you are seeing. The firing of these senior officers has nothing to do with competence. This is creating an oath of loyal by the Armed Forces to the Leader. We face an uncertain future.

The poster child for white male mediocrity, Pete Hegseth, is firing qualified Black men and women from the military.

The disturbing part of Trump declaring himself THE KING isn't that he did it, it's that his followers want him to be a king. They've completely abandoned the fundamental precepts of democracy in favor of total centralized control by a new American royal, because they both hate the same people.

Look at what they target. Support it. Look at what they support. Target it.

"In reality, most of what Musk is doing is flatly illegal" or, even more egregious, unconstitutional. "Congress still gets to dictate the budget," no matter what Trump and Musk think. A comprehensive takedown by @lizdye.bsky.social. www.publicnotice.co/p/elon-musk-...

Cutting NASA's workforce by about 10 percent. That's a boost to the Chinese and Russians. And the guy in charge of SpaceX made this decision? That's a total conflict of interest. Moreover, firing all probationary employees shows they're not serious about evaluating programs. It's a machine gun.

YES

People often assume the emotions associated with cruelty are hatred and anger, but it’s actually pleasure and joy. Fascists relish their cruelty. They roll it around on their tongue like a mouthful of full-bodied wine. They laugh as they harm.

Brazil shows that it can be done. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/w...

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

Historically, suddenly forcing massive numbers of highly educated and well paid people into unexpected mass unemployment has not led to *stability*

Firing this many Department of Defense workers at once, who will now desperately need new sources of income, is a huge gift to enterprising foreign intelligence agencies looking for info on the US military and defense sector

Oh, look what normal countries do when a former president leads a far right coup attempt.

To my friends of the Earth. There are no words to share how ashamed I am of the American Gov't. We have been destroyed from the inside out. Tech has allowed massive propaganda to incite fear and stupidity in those most susceptible to it for the benefit of a handful of people. I apologize for the US.

You know how you get that feeling when you're walking in an area that's abandoned and dark and your instincts kick in that something's fucked up and you need to get the hell out of there before the terrible thing happens and you're supposed to listen to that? That's how I feel living in the US now.

In 2020 they used the Big Lie (100s of misleading claims) of "voter fraud" to try to overturn an election. In 2024 they're using similar tactics to create/amplify misleading claims of "government waste and fraud" to justify dismantling huge sections of the U.S. government.

Here is the ad the Washington Post accepted and then rejected:

Learning to Be Lawless: The broligarchs perfected this game of strategic ambiguity in the offshore financial system, then they brought it onshore. If you make yourself neither fish nor fowl--if you elude categories & labels--the law doesn't know what to do with you. Voilà: instant impunity.

This legal fiction is to shield Musk from any meaningful accountability. He is operating his own organization within the federal government, loyal to him not Trump, and has amassed unprecedented control of federal data. But just an advisor!

Musk is an unelected, unconfirmed private citizen with access to classified information, financial systems, and federal policy decisions—all while running companies that directly profit from government contracts. This is corruption, plain and simple.

Note this is unfortunately routine practice already--its called the foster care system. We remove more children from their families than any country on earth and 90% of them are victims of poverty, not abuse or violence. What Kennedy is calling for is the expansion of a system that already exists.

We are not going to get different results using the same leaders of the past. I hope to be your next mayor.

We're tired of the leaders of the past offering empty rhetoric, instead of actually rebuilding our city. My statement on Eric Adams' testimony today in Albany:

NY City Council speaker Adrienne Adams: "With the resignation of deputy mayors, it has become clear that Mayor Adams has now lost the confidence and trust of his own staff, his colleagues in government, and New Yorkers. He now must prioritize New York City and New Yorkers, step aside and resign."

A key to understanding this is that the people who were committing PPP fraud are the base of Trump and the Republican Party's support

I keep seeing this. Guys, their literal job is to figure out what to do. They are not helpless even if they are not the majority. I really hope we can stop treating some of the most powerful people in the world as helpless and without sentience.

A good moment to remember the Russia thing was always real. Trump's goal is to help Russia and Putin, always has been. He's trying to throw our democratic allies under the bus and America as well. Again, the Russia thing was always real.

Upon receiving the news that four of the City's Deputy Mayors have submitted their resignations, I sent the following letter to @nycmayor.

Big crowd at the SF Tesla dealership protesting our unelected overlord. A tiny sign hangs from an upstairs window

Thousands of people attended a Presidents Day protest in New York on Monday to oppose the Trump administration's policies, including major cuts to federal programs and staff. Demonstrations also took place in Washington, D.C., and other cities.

Yes! We’re undergoing the experience of post-collapse Russia, where big state enterprises are being handed to oligarchs, except we didn’t collapse, our political system just decided not to react if the oligarch is Musk

Elon musk is the richest man in the world, he could be funding hospitals, medical research and universities. He could be solving the climate crisis. He could be feeding, hungry children. Instead, he’s trying to make sure that your grandmother doesn’t get an extra dollar of Social Security.
