As an Italian-american I do not want Columbus Day. He was a POS. Besides he sailed for Spain.
Give us an Italian-American heritage day instead.

They're useful for drafting standardized letters, e.g. resume or cease and desist. You then have to heavily edit it to meet your needs. That's about the extent of their usefulness.

It will certainly affect private industry. At least in Anchorage, anyone with a business sells to the govt or govt employees in some way. Without those jobs propping up the community Alaska will crash. Same will be true in many other states.

"Few former government employees have had to hit quarterly revenue goals, customer retention targets or efficiency metrics —standard in private-sector roles."
This is just patently false. Just because the govt isn't for profit doesn't mean employees aren't held to efficiency metrics.

"They remind me they got laid off during the pandemic while I collected a regular paycheck, with no loss of pension or health benefits.”
Why do fed workers get blamed for this? It's not my fault your employer is a shitbag, maybe you should unionize instead of attacking civil servants.

Employers don't care about accuracy and attention to detail that govt workers excel at. They want employees they can exploit who won't ask for competetive compensation or work life balance.

They're not cutting off the US, they're just shipping to Canada from Europe instead of the US. Which is just a smart move, regardless of politics.

It's not a far departure from jeans and a chore coat, but it doesn't have as much of the Canadian tuxedo look and has clear elements of tailoring. Looks nice I like it.

The postal service is already effectively privatized, they don't take taxpayer money. If we instead had a company like FedEx run it there are very rural parts of the country that just wouldn't get mail, and likely would die out.

No such thing as an illegal protest. This comment on its own should be considered an impeachable offense.

I've been cutting out as much as I can and trying to sustain it. Cancelled amazon prime, not shopping at Walmart, target, local businesses that I know are MAGA. Today just going to do my best to not buy anything at all.

Need to tax these POS oil companies. Don’t even give a fuck about the dividend, need functional schools and infrastructure.

The great thing about cooking is once you know how, you don't need recipes. You can just see ingredients and make a dish out of it. It doesn't have to be any more difficult than getting dressed in the morning. You don't need a recipe to make a great outfit.

Because those are both illegal actions and passing legislation like that would legitimize them. If you're dumb enough to take the buyout I don't feel bad. If you were fired you should be reinstated.
