Thanks a lot šŸ˜„ I was wary about ā€œlooking behind the curtainā€ and ruining the magic.. but I am still curious

That was a sentiment Iā€™ve needed to see verbalised for a long time šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Is it just me or is there a blurred line between generations now? The music from 2000 until 2025 all seems the same. Movies have kind of stuck at the ā€œendless sequelsā€ stage and my friends kids seem more like they are college house mates (gaming online together, watching the same series etc)

Itā€™s great to know a little bit about whatā€™s going on under the hood šŸ˜„ I had an idea at a very high level.. but I think there is always going to be a bit of mystery as they grow more complex and scale up. Itā€™s a pity the plagerism issues and energy usage problems are turning people into haters..
comment in response to post
I think deep down I know that.. but thanks for the information šŸ˜„ Sounds like a really interesting line of work youā€™re in. Iā€™m fascinated by where this AI tech is going, even though it has its dark side (plagiarism, massive energy use, hallucinations etc) Good luck with your project!

Why would this necessarily mean they are losing money on the the $20 per month product? Iā€™m sure the normal product has enough caps and restraints to be profitable. Wouldnā€™t it just mean that people are ā€œabusingā€ the unlimited access for the higher plan? Just asking, this isnā€™t really my field

Not sure why alot of people are lumping AI into this.. the idea of an NFT is fine. A unique token among generic ones is just a technical feature. Selling one for thousands/millions IS madness AI might be a huge energy drain (now) but as a programmer, what I've seen so far has been amazing

Felt like a bunch of famous people coming up with flimsy reasons to be on screen together. Pointless story. No consequences for anyone (thanks to a multiverse of spare parts) Hollow, nihlistic violence set to ironically catchy music But there were some funny quips. And Hugh jackman was all in šŸ˜‚

But that clip really looked as if Peter Thiel was suddenly struck by a mercurial God with the curse of truth-speaking and could not articulate any plausible reason he shouldnā€™t be killed

This is the ā€œburn of the weekā€ for me šŸ˜‚ Great observation

Can intelligence exist in a tiny timeframe? Like say a short textual conversation. And if so, what happens if the conversation is years long and the llms memory is perfect? Just add some kind of artificial autonomy/curiosity and voila. AGI šŸ˜„ I am not an expert, please go easy on me!

Exactly šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ if itā€™s not stackoverflow, itā€™s a google result.. ai was just the next logical step

I mean ā€œgolden ageā€ in an ironic way šŸ˜„ Youā€™ve hit the nail on the head with AI ā€œcreatingā€ art. Itā€™s all stolen, without consent, and designed to give wealthy people access to design skills without paying a designer. I only got excited by the fact that it could solve my programming issues quickly
comment in response to post
There is another issue.. the internet might become filled with so much AI generated nonsense, and that in turn gets used to train the next generation of AI šŸ˜£ This could be the ā€œgolden ageā€ before it all goes to hell šŸ˜‚

Thereā€™s only three use cases I see: Programming (and itā€™s quiet good at that in very specific ways) Deciphering legal jargon (but again donā€™t trust it fully) And writing emails (now everyone sounds like a solicitor.. not a great result there either)
comment in response to post
100% agree. I saw some scary stories about kids in schools citing chatGPT as fact when it was clearly hallucinating The kids just didnā€™t understand.. so yeah, major issues on the horizon there and thatā€™s really going to suck if itā€™s not dealt with
comment in response to post
Iā€™m well aware of the downsides, and I donā€™t support any of them. Itā€™s like crypto, huge carbon footprint to try to solve a technical issue but with the added theft of intellectual property for training But you canā€™t deny itā€™s an incredible piece of technology. And the potential is amazing

I use ChatGPT as a programming tool and itā€™s pretty easy to determine whatā€™s made up or not.. I wouldnā€™t rely on it, but itā€™s a great ā€œunblockerā€ And I see they added a Search/Browse recently, probably to compete with perplexity.. How does that rate as a search engine alternative to google?

I introduced my nephews to a board game called ā€œChinatownā€ that has almost no rules and is 95% negotiation.. It was like injecting sugar directly into their brains šŸ˜‚ like the floor of a stock exchange they spent a few hours shouting insane ā€œdealsā€ to each other

ā€œDie Hardā€, ā€œCharlie and the Chocolate Factoryā€ and ā€œETā€ were all my national broadcaster could afford to show us every year at Christmas in the 80s.. I get the feeling they just rolled the tapes and went drinking Voila, Christmas movies šŸ˜„

Can you post about the things TV shows/movies get wrong.? šŸ˜„ those are always entertaining

It definitely has that unique atmosphere and ā€œfeelā€ just like the previous games. Iā€™m a little disappointed with the a-life implementation.. and maybe Iā€™m showing my age, but a map with lots of check marks and objectives feels like a chore list šŸ˜£ Really curious to see how they iterate with patches

That about sums it up perfectly šŸ˜„

Iā€™ll try and read some reputable sources on it.. Anyway thanks for your time, have a good week
comment in response to post
Fair enough. Although, is it problematic that the current system requires infinite economic growth in a finite world, as we chase the interest payments? Or have I been doom scrolling too much? šŸ˜„
comment in response to post
Are we starting to see some of those spirals forming though.? Like in the US, and Europe post-covid and with the situation in Ukraine? Borrowing/money-printing seems very excessive lately Whatā€™s the monthly cost of interest repayment for the US? Admittedly Iā€™m in IT and this is not my field šŸ˜„
comment in response to post
Apologies for being vague.. I should have been able to quote a source there. I think it was relating to fractional reserve banking and the application of interest in that system. We create the money, but not the money to pay the interest, hence more money printing and more interest etc Spiral
comment in response to post
I see your point šŸ˜„ But if that does come to pass, weā€™ll probably have bigger issues than a crypto bubble bursting.. Weā€™ll find out just how many of the other systems we rely on (that do have intrinsic value) are quantum proof
comment in response to post
Yeah, the quantum computer thing is a concern alright. Not meaning to drag this out or be argumentative here, but if all fiat currencies tend towards hyperinflation (I read that somewhere) and there is no alternative, then why would the bubble burst.? It remains a finite (digital) asset
comment in response to post
ā€¦ are not the worlds first digital asset, thatā€™s not under the control of any one corporation or government, and available to everyone with a mobile phone, as an alternative to hyper-inflating fiat currencies But the other coins are definitely tulip bulbs
comment in response to post
Iā€™d agree that every single crypto coin/token is a gamble and everyone is just waiting to see who races for the exit first (I hold some crypto) But hasnā€™t Bitcoin achieved something to take it beyond that? It seems to be every bit as much a global asset as gold at this point
comment in response to post
I blame being cranked to the nines on video games, YouTube shorts and doom scrolling social media the before and sometimes during my attempts to get to sleep šŸ˜µ And also fighting my inner demons etc
comment in response to post
I grew up with street fighter, and I loved playing AND watching SFV.. but I totally agree with you about the visuals in SF6. No one really stands out or sets themselves apart. And the matches seem to be just combo/tennis Iā€™ve never played it though so I shouldnā€™t judge šŸ˜„
comment in response to post
What would make it more impressive is that their technology would need to travel through time AND space. If they are from a million years in the future, they would have to calculate where earth was all that time ago (planets/solar system/galaxy all traveling at high speed) Cool idea though

Thanks man, I honestly didnā€™t think about it until I saw your post šŸ˜‚ I remember polling some friends a while ago and 3am insomnia seemed to be on the rise. Itā€™s obviously the phoneā€¦ need put it away when trying to sleep šŸ˜µ
comment in response to post
I usually start adjusting at 2 or 3am, staring at my phone and praying for sleep. If I sleep at all itā€™s usually 10-15 minutes before my alarms goes off šŸ˜µ

Exciting times šŸ˜„ Although I was getting a little nervous watching it execute commands in the terminal.. The constant confirmations are equal parts annoying and re-assuring
