I’ve heard that speakers of different languages will make different mistakes when speaking/writing in English. I don’t know nearly enough of any other language to spot specific mistakes that might clue me into another writers country of origin, but I wish I did. Language is so cool.

Distinguishing stories written by teens from those written by adults normally comes down to style, pacing, and tone rather than spelling and grammar. “Teen protagonist lashes out at adult figure who is revealed to be malicious, incompetent, or both” is a very common trope

If the issue is dyslexia, the mistakes within a story will be inconsistent. An author may use their/they’re/there correctly in one paragraph and incorrectly in the next, or will use a word that just doesn’t make sense within context, but looks similar to a word that does. Like veil/vale.

In the fic I’m currently reading, the writer almost always uses “have” where “had” would make more sense, essentially mixing up present and past tense. It’s not a one off mistake, but a consistent decision. This same author also puts “a” in front of most nouns.

Not sure if this is helpful from a teaching perspective, as different ESL writers will make different mistakes. There’s no one single thing that clues me into if an author is a native English speaker. I’ve just noticed that the mistakes an individual makes are consistent with an internal logic

I like sci fi, horror, and nonfiction sociology. Really I’ll read anything; I’m always on the hunt for new books to add to my tbr list!

Oh I jump around like crazy. I typically have 2-4 books on rotation, so that as soon as I get bored/tired of one I can switch things up. I’m currently reading Dune Messiah, Africa Is Not A Country, and I, Robot. And I have System Collapse (the most recent book in TMBD) sitting on my shelf to read…

A whole world opens up for people when they realize that you can just pick and choose feminine and masculine traits based on whatever makes you happiest.

That’s incredible! I love the blue in the background. How did you make this? Did you follow a pattern?

This Is How You Lose The Time War is about two secret agents on opposite sides of a time war, each one tasked with investigating and eventually killing the other. I shan’t say more in fear of spoiling the end, but it’s a very good read, I highly recommend it!
