I want to throw up.

A bunch of people have sent me this. I just want everybody to know this is NOT my fault. (This time.)

every Donald Trump cycle: TRUMP: i'm gonna kill the easter bunny FACT-CHECKER: he has not stated how he is going to kill the easter bunny TRUMP SUPPORTER: i think he means he's going to kill evil bunnies TRUMP: *beheads the easter bunny* NYT: trump redefines relationship between bunny and head

This is very literally a coup. This is the administration acting as an authoritarian/fascist regime.

REEEEEEEEEMIIIIIIIIIIXXXXXXX

Re-upping this. We need experts in media literacy & stewards of the freedom to read now more than ever.

A reminder that any copies of these books schools had are not allowed to be redistributed or donated (IE Must be destroyed) and ALSO kids are not even allowed to carry their own personal copies to school.

Ethnic cleansing. The President of the United States is describing ethnic cleansing in very plain terms. The completion of the ethnic cleansing of Gaza has been stated as the official position of the USA. Lord, have mercy.

Okay, sure... But the story is about how PUBLIC SCHOOLS are under attack. PUBLIC SCHOOLS and PUBLIC LIBRARIES need your support --even more-- right now. Indie bookstores are great, but they require capital to access. PUBLIC schools and libraries are democratic and accessible to *ALL*.

Brief break from hawking The Onion to tell everyone I just subscribed to Wired. Please support publications who do brave work right now. www.wired.com/v2/offers/wi...

As many have identified, “move fast, break things” is not a thoughtful strategy for governing. May I add that it is also not a thoughtful strategy for public education. Tech industry has regularly used education as a kind of sandbox in which our students are the collateral.

Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

This sounds like a bad movie it's so hard to believe but does seem to actually, possibly be happening that that core US government private information on US citizens and businesses and confidential govt operations is being carted off by unvetted malevolent possibly foreign actors

is it good or bad that a billionaire oligarch with close ties to foreign dictators is currently downloading the most sensitive information the us federal government has about its citizens to his own private servers?

Happy: Black history Black present Black future Black love Black joy Black health Black healing Black people Black community Black family Black kids Black culture Black creativity Black ingenuity Black legacy Black innovation Black liberation Black resistance Black existence ...month🖤

Is there a word for when a bunch of private citizens following orders from an unelected billionaire occupy government buildings and cut off communications

i just cannot get over how much the administration’s response to the crash shows a profound disrespect for the lives of the people they are supposed to serve

Everyone's like "wow it must be really bad if the QUAKERS are mad," but the thing is that Quakers stay mad. They are not new to the organizing scene, the oppositional posture. They are abolitionists from way back. "Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of justice" is the Quaker way.

This is great news, but folks should know that Bookshop ebooks are in a proprietary format that requires a special app. That means you can't read them on your kindle - which, sure, don't buy a new one, but I already made that deal with the devil and I'll likely use mine till it dies. 1/2

Never again. That has to mean something more than a slogan used to feel good about condemning a distant genocide it costs nothing to condemn.

A few years ago, my son and I read this book together. Besides being a fascinating page turner, it really cemented in my mind the power of not just small acts of resistance, but of playing to your strengths.

Mosab Abu Toha: “I demand that the American Library Association (ALA) issue a statement condemning the destruction of the Edward Said Public Library in Gaza and boycott Israeli libraries and cultural institution.” https://lithub.com/read-mosab-abu-tohas-statement-on-the-destruction-of-the-edward-sa…

Just an FYI for people who may be new to the book banning stuff, when your books are banned it does not mean you’re on “the right side.” It means that your art (and probably you too) is being targeted by right wing extremists for erasure. It means you are being silenced. It’s NOT GOOD.

People keep saying “the point of all this stuff is psychological warfare” but like I’m pretty sure the point is to do all the things they intend to do as fast as possible like their website said they would do

We do not need to cede him any more power than he will have tomorrow. He won the popular vote by 1.5%. He did not crack 50% of the overall vote. His win does not mark a sea change in public opinion. He, his policies, and his cronies will be unpopular. Rest up. Take care of yourself. Then...

I have been pleading for folks to run for their local public library boards, because LIBRARIANS NEED THE SUPPORT OF THEIR BOARDS to stand up to censorship and defunding and “parental rights” fascism. Good on you!! 📚

Americans are about to find out what it’s like to live under state controlled/adjacent social media.
