Mr. Martin needs to write better. It is unclear based on the sentence whether Mr. Garcia is calling Mr. Musk or Mr. Trump a "Dick". That being said, it is my opinion that both interpretations of the sentence are true.

I have come to the conclusion that Trump hates nature. He hates national parks and preserving the nations natural beauty. He also does not understand the middle class and the poor – where our national parks provide recreation and relaxation for a good price. To bad his father never took him camping.

Wow - that editorial was pretty bland. It is in support of the proposed tax. It just points out the change in language and the City could use the funds for additional projects other than police wages and that public notice requirements were not followed. Not something to stomp via a court case.

Those are awesome! I especially like the halberds and billhooks.

A quick question - only Emil Bove signed. Why didn't Bacon and Sullivan sign? Are they off the hook? Or with their names on this - are they now officially associated with this?

For decades, Dems have been quietly mitigating the harms an increasingly radical and right-wing Republican party have been trying to inflict on the American people. We are now in a position where no one can really save the country from Rs (or save Rs from themselves)

He's absolutely right - a strong democracy costs $270 Million to purchase.

It was not a mistake. They meant to fire him. The rescinding was a political favor to Tom Cotton. I wonder what the Trump admin will get or has gotten from Cotton for this? Trump does not do anything for free.

My hope is that our democracy survives the next four years - the political blowback is so great that we rebuild our institutions even better and stronger than before. Heavily dependent on "if our democracy survives". I am trying to have a little optimism.

In all honesty - she does a really good job of deflecting. For a trump spokesperson she is perfect for trump. And that is bad for the rest of us. But you got to give her credit - she is much better at this than Sean Spicer was.

Lol - I found that funny. The reaction - not so funny.

Lower tax rate - No they would not. Better medical- nope, military protection - already have that. Russian ships - trump won't stop them. All lies. I can't wait to chat with my Canadian friends and tell them the benefits of joining the US - they will laugh.

Someone should remind him that Robespierre, who ordered many peoples heads cut off in the french revolution, "checks notes" had his head cut off.

So what if they are not going to - republicans should be called out on it. They should be shamed - publicly and constantly - for letting this happen. It needs to come from the public - from we the people. The shame should be so great that in two years no one will admit to voting for him.

The political party that is in power is the republicans. Why are you not calling on them to reign in their own member? The Democrats can fight, but remember that the republican party is the cause of this and they can put a stop to it. All it would take is a few republican congress members to say NO

I was going to reply with something snarky about blonde women and a comparison to fox news. Then I decided that I am better than that comment. I shall continue to strive to be better.

I highly doubt that anyone would scold the CEO during a company all hands meeting. I call BS on that. I have never been in an all hands where people could talk besides the presenter. Questions/comments are submitted in writing.

I thought there was (normal) scrutiny and strict scrutiny - what is intermediate scrutiny? Did the SC just make that up in this case? Or was it already defined?

Hi Jules - i wish we could edit - The officers who were there that day were so brave and so grossly mistreated "by the republican members of" their government. It's was horrifying to watch them get overtaken by the mob. It breaks my heart and boils my blood.

I always thought the stolen classified documents case was the easiest case against trump. He knew he had them, government asked nicely many times for the documents back and he knew it was against the law for him to keep them as they told him so when they asked nicely (for over a year).

To follow-up, republicans did there best to make Obama, Biden and the Clintons felons. Bill had some dirt, Hillary made some mistakes that got blown out of proportion, but Biden and Obama were and are squeaky clean, otherwise you can bet that they would have been prosecuted in a second. Reps tried!
comment in response to

Trump is a republican, why are there so many pundits that want democrats to help him out? Republicans have no problem helping themselves, and democrats should not assist in any way, shape or form. If things were reversed, and Biden was a felon, there would be no talk of pardons from republicans.

So basically Republicans want mass deportation and Democrats and independents want a path to legalization. Anyone could have predicted that.

I found the 20 billion for long term nursing care interesting (estimated to double within a few years). So if they added in long term nursing care it would be ~55 billion to ~110 billion (2024 dollars). That could be funded if we cut military spending ~15%, and it would generate more econ activity.

Thanks so much @skittishmactavish.bsky.social. I've read those. Please check out @emptywheel.bsky.social posts on Hunter Biden - because you are not infuriated enough. Her writeups site news stories, court documents, and FOIA requests, many that she submitted herself(1/2).

It is important to assign blame to the appropriate person(s). Replace Merrick Garland with Bill Barr and David Weiss. There is plenty of things to blame on Merrick Garland, but Hunter Biden investigation is not one of them. See @emptywheel.bsky.social. Start Here www.emptywheel.net/2024/04/28/k...

Hi David - I thought FBI directors had a 10 year term? Comey being fired was unprecedented. Why is it a forgone conclusion that Kash Patel will be FBI director? How will Trump go about firing Wray this time? Doesn't he need a reason? I would appreciate if anyone had some insight.
