At this point, we have to hope they don’t remove vaccinations altogether. Very worrisome for Americans, particularly newborns and babies.

In residency, took care of someone we found out had Norwegian Crusted Scabies (of course after several days in the hospital and lots of exposures). It’s super infectious. Everyone exposed had to do permethrin, and every itch for weeks had me paranoid

I regularly listen to @oncbrothers.bsky.social, Neil Love’s Research to Practice, Blood Cancer Talks, and sporadically some others depending on the content of the episode! Any additional suggestions you like?

I tell patients and friends/family the same. They can be curable for many patients, but it comes at a high price. Much better to get vaccinated, even if you’re an adult. I got mine in my late 20s.

The struggle for increasing profits to shareholders knows no bounds. A terrible policy change that strikes at one of the core differentiators for Southwest from other airlines.

The war on government bureaucracy and rumors of dismantling the CHIPS act probably don’t help.

You can’t take 30% cuts across the board and continue to function, it’s not practical. Furthermore, they shouldn’t have to. These are insignificant portions of government spending that have an outsized positive economic impact and and help improve our ability to care for people.

Based on the lack of compliance we’ve seen thus far, I’m not optimistic. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow if they do and what the court’s response will be.

We need lawyers involved, like everything else that has been done and is currently being litigated. @democracyforward.bsky.social @democracydocket.com @marcelias.bsky.social what can be done about this? This will devastate American research universities

That guy is an easy block. Using AI to help improve our diagnostics, patient outcomes, etc. is great and I welcome its integration in medicine once they’ve done the studies and validated its use. Clearly that’s not what we’re talking about here.

Generative AI is riddled with problems. If ChatGPT can just make up fake citations, false information, or get math problems wrong, then I’m not going to use it for anything that matters. As a consumer, I certainly don’t want AI to replace human creativity or media. The world sucks enough.
