SOUL, HUMANITY, COMPASSION does not yet, and likely never will exist in machines; which is why AI robotics is so threatening to Humanity; especially since its prime applications clearly are leaning toward Autonomous General AI Robotic Military Tech; that China is growing exponentially as we speak.
Considering AI is used to help insurance companies justify improperly refusing to pay for life saving treatments and in Tesla's terrible full self driving feature that keeps veering into oncoming traffic or running straight into pedestrians, I'd say you were spot on with the dangerous part.
Clippy was absolute genius. I was able get several coworkers to ask it and its friends all their stupid Office questions instead of bugging me. I hope whoever made the decision to axe Clippy is pestered by thousands of clueless Office users every single day for the rest of eternity.
I have been underwhelmed with the AI suggestions I get, as a general rule. They can take meeting notes, but they don't get what should or should not be emphasized. They also can't distinguish between tangential issues brought up during a meeting and the key ideas you worked on.
My boss may have to send her kitty across the bridge too. Had a good old fashioned cry about it since we have a cat with cancer who starts treatment next week... so obviously the world likes to trigger me when I am in this state of hyperawareness. I'm sorry for your friend&cat, Mr. Onion.
I am a little relieved that they still don’t understand human emotions. That is always the tipping point, according to every robot apocalypse work of fiction. So few
I think AI is teaching itself from comment sections all across the internet, and unfortunately for AI and for us, most of humanity needs to do some of the work, to unpack and evolve....
I have the family cat on my bookshelf. I know I want to spread her somewhere she can bird watch but I haven't been ready to do that yet.
Send your friend a donut!
I have played online games for many years. We call it artificial stupidity in those games. For example, a monster wants to trap me in a wall but instead traps himself. Artificial stupidity been around since the internet become popular.
My husband's first name is Nick. I can't tell you how many times I have texted and it's autocorrected to next. I'm just trying to keep him on his toes by not correcting it😂😂
They will try to limit freedom of assembly, calling it a necessity for your security. They will enact laws prioritizing state events and rallies, or those of a certain type or ideology.
Oppose any legislation attempting to interfere with freedom of assembly, for whatever reason.
You should probably turn that feature off...https://rsf.org/en/rsf-urges-apple-remove-its-new-generative-ai-feature-after-it-wrongly-attributes-false-information
That's looking at things the wrong way around. The tech companies already *have* the AI, because shareholders now require that you have AI. Now that they have it, they must figure out some place to shove it into.
(All "I know a place they can shove it" jokes are much appreciated)
Apple AI is like a person pretty far along the spectrum who gets the general gist of what’s being discussed but has no capacity to respond with an emotionally intelligent answer
AI is NOT the future if this is the best it can do. And yes, this is the best a LLM can do. It’s just a fancy search engine, nothing more. There’s no ability to reason, to think, only to replicate. It can’t create, only regurgitate. If it hasn’t seen it, it can’t think it up through interpolation…
It *is* unfortunately a much better search engine than the "search" site. LLMs usually search for the thing I actually tell it to, not the tangentially related thing Google reckons I actually meant. Still can't find existing stuff a lot of the time tho. I miss the old Internet where stuff worked...
I don’t disagree. It’s just all the people pushing vaporware ideas that this is the verge of general intelligence and self aware AI. And that’s just not the case. There’s an AI bubble growing right now and it’s going to burst when all the pie in the sky prognostications fail to materialize…
Reminds me of the year my husband died. Facebook made a memories post and the final one was my announcement of his death. They added celebratory fireworks and balloons for my most interacted with post of the year. Fuck you facebook.
i figured out how to disable that crap the moment it suggested me to tell my wife “don’t care for tacos” and “not a fan of tacos”, i said que diablo, dios mio
I don’t think I’ve ever had an appropriate response come up in there. I always look at them and they are always super tone deaf, or just weird shit you’d never say
IT IS SAD ISN'T IT when we're being lectured on etiquette by a soulless machine? I guess it says more about us than about our burgeoning Gen.AI Overlords who are already "correcting" us. Eugenics; Gene Engineering; and AI "corrections", like in our bank accounts; AI media/AI Truth aren't far behind.

Wtf dude??
A few decades late but we knew it would happen sooner or later.
As for the AI 'help'
Haha I feel you.
(I miss the dancing paper clip.)
Technology is wonderful, but never, ever, should take the place of a human brain.
Skynet will be equal parts annihilator and shitposter at this rate.
Cats are so aloof that you need to neg them to get them to be nice to you.

then real intelligence will suffer for those who won't exercise it enough.
Do I have to do all
your thinking
for you too ? 😼
It used to be an popular insult.
I'm sure some will
thrive though.
We'll call them boss.
... am I an artificial intelligence?
AGI:
...
I'm sorry, I'll see myself out.
Just took an AI 101 course from my work
Apple has fallen far from the tree
Poetic justice: Countless.
Human Intelligence: *crickets*
For everything else, there's supposed to be common sense.
