After watching Trump and Musk dismantle the federal government, any Dem would realize that Republican Lite is what got us here and is never gonna get you re-elected. Too bad @slotkin.senate.gov doesn't realize that. Time to take out the garbage.

I feel it needs to be stressed that Wired has absolutely been killing reporting on the DOGE takeover.

If you are a liberal in deep blue territory, one thing you could try doing right now is figuring out how to replace your Democratic member of Congress next year. With very few exceptions, the typical safe seat Dem is not meeting the moment. Find someone who will and help them.

This is an astonishing story. Trump's personal lawyers, now in government, are trying to find any prosecutor take on a case to stop payment of $20 billion in funds by claiming there is fraud. The fact that career prosecutors are resigning rather than do so tells you how weak the case is.

i hate talking to people on here who you can tell have no actual morals or principles because everything is a "slippery slope" to them even when it's absolutely not. "if we start harassing nazis where does it stop??" at the nazis. that's where it stops. i have an actual moral framework, do you?

We have seen two impeachment worthy stories break today alone. Incredible levels of corruption and lawlessness. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

AOL warned us of the dangers of logging on. It would play for us the screams of the damned. But we didn’t listen. We didn’t listen.

Bears repeating that social security is incredibly INCREDIBLY efficient to run. Its overhead costs are basically zero when you consider the size of the undertaking and the genuine benefits delivered. If anyone was interested in improving govt efficiency, the SSA would be their model not their target

I have no wish to sensationalize this particular case. But generally I think we should understand authorities’ statements that there’s no indication of foul play as less of a substantive declaration and more an indication they don’t want to talk to the press at this time. variety.com/2025/film/ne...

Gene Hackman dying seems a good time to tell you that Sam Raimi made a western called The Quick and the Dead, absolutely every cool actor is in it, Hackman destroys in every scene as the Big Bad, and for weird reasons 1995 America decided it was bad and erased it from memory

Plenty of normal people bought Teslas but only abject fucking simp loser freaks bought a Cybertruck

New, from me: Tulsi Gabbard purged trans intelligence officers after a Chris Rufo smear campaign. They were targeted because they were trans, their words were mischaracterized, and they were offered no due process. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-era-of...

I don’t think Bluesky will ever become a prime spot for celebrities to post simply because of our inspiring unyielding spirit of everyone from the lowliest lowbie to the mightiest account being willing to take a run at somebody over anything

there really ought to be more discussion about the fact that virtually every promise (or denial) trump made during the campaign was a total lie

he's not "getting rid of" community notes he's just trying to make it so they never get attached to stuff he agrees with and only dispute stuff he disagrees with. It's just the blue checks all over again, he's trying to corrupt something that had informational value into something that comforts him

reactionary centrism is best understood as a media establishment which attempts to expand Democrats' ideological responsibility as broadly as possible while diminishing the Republicans' as much as possible

"Culture Warred our way into a depression" is even less fun than it sounds.

i keep reading posts from people getting laid off in genuinely every possible tech industry you can imagine and it's so fucking insane that the thing people have to worry about isn't "can an AI do my job" but "can a very stupid person convince my boss that an AI can do my job"

Musk is a sensitive little orchid and I wish more people would figure out that it’d be really easy to push him over the edge simply by being meaner to him.

Lindsey is right that it's important to remember that the bigots trying to take away rights from transgender people are weird losers.

The most comfortable people in the world (in the history of the world?) have made themselves insane on the computer

What did we lose when we lost more than 22,000 (so far) fired government workers? This website connects numbers to people -- and to the important work they did. trumpcostsamerica.com

this whole fraud is going to be really funny years from now, in hindsight, but it's mostly just infuriating now

A complete clusterfuck, with the latest being that OPM has now told agencies that what was, formally, an OPM directive to all employees on Saturday is now a voluntary option on Monday.

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class

From a FOIA perspective, "the entire federal workforce should write down and email what they did last week" is extremely funny

are there other drugs for horses he could try and how quickly can we make him feel like a poseur for not trying them

Helping Ukraine has been simultaneously the morally correct thing to do AND in our objective national interest AND something we can do (and have done) effectively. An exceedingly rare trifecta and it has completely broken the brains of cynical people who assume there simply must be a catch or angle

i am once again saying that defining discrimination as noting any distinction between groups guts the concept, and it is a longterm FedSoc project to define down discrimination until it's a useless concept.

This is an excellent and timely factsheet on Ukraine, U.S. v. European security assistance, and other misunderstood or lied about aspects of the war, by our friends at @thestudyofwar.bsky.social. I'll summarize a few main points below, with additional sources of my own:

"The New York Times has been caught, once again, passing off Republican operatives as “regular” Republican voters in an article intended to show how effectively Trump is maintaining his support." presswatchers.org/2020/10/how-... by @froomkin.bsky.social

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

The job market has never been better for shills, stooges, and toadies of all stripes. Linkedin absolutely buzzing if you're a sycophant, a flunky, or even an unctuous little worm

"They're putting persecuted Christian refugees in camps in the jungle" sounds like something Glenn Beck would accuse the Obama administration of doing and yet now it's a pillar of the Republican agenda.

Its something worth being #transmemes

Someone shared meme with me on discord this morning

Oh thank goodness someone is finally sticking up for the men

Eric Adams is going to give a rambling press conference about crime where it becomes clear that he thinks that Pac-Man is real and working for the NYPD. “They can power up and round up all the bad guys, but the progressives on the city council keep letting them out, and now they’re invulnerable”

I swear to God the new york times is engaged in a dadaist art project to twist the English language into a fucking pretzel

Everyone in the Trump coalition voted for someone to get got. Most of them didn’t realize that they were that someone to someone else.

Super cool how one of the positive legacies of the Biden admin was going to be genuinely pro-democracy policy in LATAM and we're setting all of that progress on fire because a bunch of chuds thought Sicario was an aspirational narrative

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow. The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?" When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

this is dril posting

Three of four headlines on the front page of today's Albuquerque Journal are about how much the president sucks and people hate him. Not sure why the editors put scare quotes on 'illegal' federal funding freezes; they clearly are so, as Congress approved all the funding Trump has arbitrarity stopped

Brain genius Alex Spiro writes to Judge Ho denying he asked for a quid pro quo on Adams’s behalf, and attaches a letter to Emil Bove that (imo) fairly clearly lays one out.

Tired: Don't trust anyone you meet from the Internet Wired: An armed stranger from the Internet knows where I live and where I'm going. I'm paying him for this.
