The Republican budget cuts taxes for their billionaire donors, while cutting off Medicaid from older Americans in Nursing Homes. Every single Budget Committee Democrat voted against it. And now the battle moves to the House Floor.

The GOP budget is out. Republicans recently promised to love and cherish Medicaid. Their actual plan is to destroy it.

The extreme MAGA Republican budget will close hospitals, shut down nursing homes and deprive children of healthcare. There are 215 Democrats in the House who actually want to love and cherish Medicaid, not destroy it. We only need three House Republicans to join us.

I’m telling you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, please watch this. This is the energy. Not egg prices and book tours and strongly worded letters. It’s time to take the gloves off.

Message to maga! Send me your $8k stimmy! I’ll protect it from democrats!

“Clearly contrary to manifest public interest” is the standard for when a judge can countermand the government’s decision about dismissing a prosecution. The interesting question is, what would the prosecution look like if a judge did that with the government unwilling to proceed?

Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

-The Question: How the hell did we get here? -The Answer: Citizens United.

I do not think they know what principles are. Also, it doesn't matter. Putting is in control now.

Jim Acosta: I think the AP should consider whether or not to sue the administration… and the rest of the press corps should start seriously considering whether it’s worth sending everyone into the Oval Office, onto Air Force One, or into the briefing room.

@raskin.house.gov: "The whole anti-corruption crusade is an absolute fraud. They started by decimating the ranks of the inspectors general. These are the people whose job is actually, day in and day out, 365 days a year, to ferret out waste, fraud and abuse in the departments and the agencies."

"There's this line in that piece that says, no one has found any examples since 1865 of a president refusing to carry out a judicial decree. And that's the fear right now that is animating many of the legal experts." @sbg1.bsky.social joins Tim Miller:

I have work to do but I'm distracted by watching US scientific progress & leadership being irreversibly undermined because a few unelected malcontents are penalizing researchers for following legal requirements set out by congressional orders to augment basic research with benefits to society.

I am no longer accepting the argument "there are bigger problems than this!" unless you are personally working to stop the ultimate Heat Death of the Universe.

This is a comprehensive (and very bleak) summary of the current state of US science

There’s nothing like being on a completely full flight in the middle of flu season to make you wish that mask and vaccine mandates had never gone away 😓

We’re experiencing perhaps the worst flu season in 25 years, with severe cases also rising, and young children and seniors faring the worst. One in six of all ER visits in the 0-17 age groups are now for influenza. www.cdc.gov/fluview/surv... h/t @cmyeaton.bsky.social

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.

There's a Crisis of Masculinity in this country and the only way to solve it is to let me act like a cross between a baby and a movie villain

Weird how both my kids report cards always say they should continue to work on their organization and time management skills…. 🧬 At least they were late to school only 30 times this term 🤦🏻

I signed 8 up for two weeks of overnight camp. We chose one together and she was thrilled that she got to choose her own list of activities. She was nervous about the idea before. Now I am the nervous one (though I just know she'll love it more than anything).

We are all brothers and sisters in arms… You all are very important to us…

Pandemics do not begin with official announcements. They start with quiet deletions, missing reports, and assurances that there is "no cause for concern." Pay attention.

ProPublica is an invaluable resource. They have bios on the members of Elon Musk's "demolition crew."

"...authoritarians share the same goal: to crush dissent by keeping their would-be opponents spinning on an endless hamster wheel of reactive anger." Reactive anger can lead to real life reactions, however. At the very least, phone calls to reps is a good way to step away from the hamster wheel.

The protests are giving me life. At least more people are starting to see what we vigilant political monitors have been screaming about for about 10 years. I just hope it’s not too late. ⏰ 💣

Any four Republican Senators could stop this at any time simply by threatening to block all action (or even caucus with the Democrats) if Trump doesn't make certain concessions. They won't, but that should be a much bigger story than whether the Democrats are doing everything that *they* can.

Why aren't Democrats doing town halls FOR TRUMP VOTERS to ask them if this is what they voted for?
