I’m not surprised.

Who said it was a good idea and that we needed massive budget cuts?

Not clear? The screenshot was crystal clear that it was to all Americans. Was it wrong? Apparently.

I’m very sure that the ROI on those projects is much higher than the ROI on most defense spending.

Wait. I thought the GOP, unlike the democrats, “build power to accomplish specific things.”

It would be funny if, as a result of this, countries move away from “flat tax” VATs to progressively taxed income taxes.

That assumes BLS will not publish alternative facts.

Figure 1 tells me that savings go up during recessions. Figure 2 tells me that people saved during COVID. I don't want any of those two to drive up savings.

The irony of using homelessness as an indicator. Most people who voted on the economy do not want homeless housed in their neighborhood.

Since credit card debt is much higher than in the past, it makes sense for absolute dollar delinquency to be higher than in the past.

No: Different time periods. Politico is talking about 2021-22. The Forbes article, which references a FT article is referring to 2024. Yes: While I cannot read the paywalled FT article, it’s probably referring to dollars vs rates.

Just for fun, I looked up credit card delinquencies. During the awful period cited by Politico, they were the lowest since1991. The FRED data did not go back further.

Went to Costco yesterday. Coffee that I bought for $12.99 (2 lbs on sale) two weeks ago is now $20.99.

Did you try to switch plans or cancel? You can’t simply switch plans. You have to start cancellation and then you get the option to switch to classic.

Yes, but those are legal and policy choices. I’m cautioning against using mathematical rigidity when stating that spending must equal revenue. If taxes are cut, fine, live with a higher deficit and its consequences, if any, but don’t cut spending.
comment in response to post
There is a mathematical way around it called deficit spending.

He should have complied.

In all seriousness I do think that it should be eliminated. It’s mostly a benefit for the wealthy.

Also, the bill mostly reads like a NIMBY wish list, especially provisions 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7: 1. To lessen congestion in the streets; 2. To secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers; 3. To promote health and the general welfare, including the peace and quality of life of the district;

The bill's status is introduced, not passed. It was introduced by a Democratic state senator in a Democratic district of Oklahoma City. Let's see where the vote goes and which party votes for it and against it.

I think hotels would be nice so that people could stay at the beach and enjoy what LA has to offer, along with high rise condos so that many Angelenos could enjoy the beach within walking distance. Perhaps I’m wrong though. Perhaps it’s better to keep it as an enclave for the rich.

Are you an expert on “landscape management” because you don’t seem to know what you’re talking about.
comment in response to post
While Woods is your typical MAGA POS, I would agree that Newsom probably understands little about fire management so he defers to fire management experts. Trump, OTOH, would claim that he knows more about I than anyone else, while not even being capable of managing a campfire.

As far as SS running out of money sooner, that is technically correct. However, Congress could fix that easily in several ways.

In other words, currently, earned benefits are cut because these workers are receiving a pension. This law only gives workers the amount they would get if the never worked again, not unearned benefits.
comment in response to post
Reporting is misleading because they allude but do not make clear that the benefits only apply to workers that contributed sufficiently to SS to qualify for benefits but are unfairly punished for also having a job that didn’t contribute to SS.
