Even though they are seeing that they are peasants to the rich they will still follow Trump off a cliff. They will still vote against their self interest and they’ll still think the left is their enemy.

Having a place for discourse that is lively and community building has always been important for grass roots politics. I don’t fear a left wing echo chamber as the left is a vast collection of ideas and positions and has far fewer “thought leaders”.

The LNP are at least consistent in being a party who passes only terrible backward policy that never addresses issues but only panders to the vengeful and ill informed.

I’m surprised that this was the stimulus for a discussion on healthcare when there was just an election where the Democratic Party can’t run on single payer health because they think it’s too unpopular.

They are proposing austerity they are just packaging it in some silly “advisory body” way.

I have a teen son and he’s not really interested in SM but he’s really into gaming, I have been diligent in making sure if he played online it was only with school friends, the parents of his friends aren’t doing the same. It’s hard being the only supervisor so I think bans can be valuable.

This is actually what text book political correctness is. Toeing a line by saying things that fit a political narrative but are not factually correct. It’s another propaganda tactic that the population hasn’t learnt to identify in 100 years. I will die on the hill of world history education.

In Australia we have a national broadcaster who have a news show made for children. It does deep dives into news stories and delivers them with context. It is shown in a lot of schools. They can also access it online.

Absolutely agree! There’s also no harm minimisation measures like teaching kids how to find help if they don’t want to go to teachers or parents.

Everything in modern politics is so reactionary. Complex social problems have complex social solutions. Reactionary legislation is a whack-a-mole approach to governance.

Is this not just pushing countries into making trade deals with China to keep their industries afloat?

It really seems like a lot of them think this is all one big troll and it’s hilarious to crash the economy or put people in camps just to see the reaction.

It appears that the GOP and MAGA base are the most angry about this pick. They might block her in the senate. She’s certainly an odd choice on the face of it.

I think there is also an element of apathy from people who would be dems voters but didn’t show up because they’re doing well economically. Working class people turned out because they are the first to feel effects and they last in times of inflation. The dems didn’t speak to them well enough.

I’m in Australia and I have seen posts saying it’s gaining traction in Japan and the Netherlands. I think it’ll only be a matter of time as it’s a much better user experience especially for news.
