Today I learned that Ron Schleede died this month. He was a well-known air crash investigator that appeared on many Mayday episodes. My condolences to his family and all of his friends and colleagues.

No, we do NOT like Doug Ford. More votes were cast AGAINST him, but because we have THREE left parties, only ONE right party & a first past the post system, a minority vote resulted in a Con win. Also, one of the left parties got more seats with less popular vote than the other. We need reform!

Thank you for your patience! Read my latest long-form analysis of how the 2022 Wings Over Dallas air show went tragically wrong. admiralcloudberg.medium.com/passing-the-...

the origin of the phrase "did a number on someone" is from JRPGs and you cannot convince me otherwise

I had never heard of this event before today. Wow!

The TSB has a flickr account where they post photos of their investigations. Here's their album with photos of the Delta crash site

Truth still matters. Here's my latest on what is happening in the wake of the recent series of crashes. colleenmondor.substack.com/p/23-aviatio...

I honestly do not know how to convey to people not in aviation that two things can be true: 1. The recent accidents in DC, PA, AK, AZ and now Toronto have nothing in common; and 2. Firings at the FAA & NWS will negatively impact flight safety in the future.

I should note for most people that, when the TSB reads out the CVR, do not expect a CVR transcript. Since the mid 80s, Canada made the CVR "privileged", so the best you will get are descriptions of what's going on, and maybe one or two actual lines if they need to show what exactly the crew knew.

I understand that a lot of people are afraid right now, because they are hearing a lot of things about air travel. First, understand that what causes a midair in DC is not what causes a private jet to have landing gear issues in AZ or a single-engine aircraft to crash off the coast of Nome, AK. /1

Heard from a witness that an Endeavor Air CRJ crashed at Toronto Pearson Airport. Photo shows the plane inverted

Time for my ultra rightwing heel turn Yeah I only play anti-woke games!! One of the most anti-woke games of all time!! Am I doing this right??

JUST RELEASED: #TSBAir investigation report (A22O0161) into the 2022 runway overrun of a Flair Airlines Boeing 737-800 in Kitchener, Ontario: ow.ly/U8rn50UZnVq #AviationSafety

For folks wondering if flying is suddenly unsafe, I have some stats from 2024 for you to think about. There were 1,170 aviation accidents last year. That includes all types of aviation even kitplanes, hot air balloons, gliders, etc. For you aviation types, these are not incidents, but accidents. /1

Various thoughts... -Trump and co. haven't done anything tangible to affect air safety yet. -Commercial airline operations and other forms of aviation have distinct procedures, training, etc. and aren't directly comparable, safety-wise. -Baader-Meinhof is a hell of a thing.

It's #superbowlsunday so let's see those Superb Owls! Got a nice owl picture? Quote this post, use #superbowlsunday, let's see how many owls we can get throughout the course of the day in! Pictured, a lovely Snowy Owl basking on top of a manmade structure staring intently. #birds #owl #snowyowl

Professor James Reason passed away a few days ago. The Reason model - often known as the Swiss cheese model - of accidents revolutionised aviation safety and risk management practices, as it did for many other fields. Vale.

This will be unrelated to the DCA mid-air and the Learjet 55 crash, as well as the return of the occupant of the White House. We will not see the fallout from the gutting of #aviation in the United States for at least a few months, if not years.

I have a studied the aviation safety situation in Alaska for 30 years. If Bering Air has gone down it will have nothing to do with the Potomac midair & PA medevac crash. It is a very different situation In AK. Right now, we wait to know more. www.alaskasnewssource.com/2025/02/07/r...

This week in history — In January 2018, a Norwegian 737 carrying a group of 85 plumbers to a convention in Munich had to turn back to Oslo... because the toilets stopped working.
