People assume Andrew Cuomo is tough and A Fighter because he always looks angry and acts weird. Mistaking a total lack of emotional self-regulation and wild, self-destructive spite for Masculine Strength is one of the defining political errors to me. No one even tries to keep it together anymore.

It's hard for me to explain, but I'll try: One thing I see is a defense of fascist takes that take them at face value. For example, a common response to transgender ban in sports is "But there are hardly any trans people in sports!" True, but the main thing is that *it isn't an issue at all.*

hi! are you cis? a democrat? did you see this? democratic consultants want candidates act like diet GOP & help the president’s anti-trans sports ban become a law monday. dem senators need to know consultants have shit for brains & you don’t want diet fascism. tap the quoted thread. please call.

Heading to Danny's Pizza and Hoagies in a bit and then maybe buying new litter boxes. #plans #bigplans #thebiggestplans

I won't get into this on here, but one of best things that ever happened to me was not getting into my Spanish PhD. I did get the MA, and it has been helpful in my work, and I have the library science master's, too. But, I'm 10-15 years from retirement, and hugely concerned how it will go.

An important thing to remember, beyond his sexual harassing, about Andrew Cuomo (thread)

Do you know of any organization that is working to end for-profit healthcare, or at least something approaching this? Thanks.

Not that you all aren't great! But one way to avoid exhaustion is to not focus on the thing thst causes exhaustion. Stay vigilant and informed, sure, but also just shut things down for a while, too.

Time to do the dishes and read a book. Valuing offline time more and more these days.

Again, Jews were less than 1% of the German population in 1933.

IF TRANS ISSUES ARE SO INCONSEQUENTIAL DOES SOMEONE ON THE NYT MASTHEAD WANT TO EXPLAIN WHY THEY SPENT THREE YEARS RUNNING A1 “INVESTIGATIONS” INTO SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MEDICAL CARE AND THE LANGUAGE CHOICES OF NON-PROFITS AND HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS????

I am pretty tired of this argument. Journal articles and books are sometimes not widely accessible (although some are), but academics speak much more often to the public now, through the media, op eds, trade books, and public lectures, than in the past and anti-intellectualism has grown.

Post the amazing science things you have done with federal funding.

Now starts the "just make it be spring already" time of year in Pittsburgh. Will it snow? Or could I potentially wear shorts? Who knows? (Today is snow.)

Oh it doesn't work that way? I was confused because you keep shitting on Canada and then begging us for eggs because you fired everyone working on containing bird flu.

The new Muslim Ban is coming into effect on March 20th; it is boring, it is sneaky, it is worse than the last one by far, and it is trying to make the Muslim Ban normal forever. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/poli...

A reminder that Democrat senators voted unanimously for this ahole. Apparently throwing highly marginalized people under the bus is fine, while fragile dudes with massive egos destroy everything.

I am so pleased to announce a Palestinian Studies cluster hire at @huntercollege.bsky.social - we are hiring one person in the arts and another in the social sciences. This is an incredible source of pride for me as a faculty member & one of the many reasons that I feel so lucky to work here 1/

Seeing how quickly many people and companies have folded under Trump's EOs, it's clear they were never allies all along. I like breathing and clean water, for example, but I guess some spite-fueled dipshit overshadows everything else. I get he has tremendous (and illegal) power, but...
