Lay offs are terrible and should never happen, but this feels like how capitalism was always going to end--a bunch of ignorant folks at the top desperately looking for short term gains listening to the hype from sycophants. Uoroboros completes the cycle and there's no more tail to eat. AI for sure.

I'm really uncertain on how I feel about this. The tech company I work for is doing the same thing all the while I've been telling them the results are *not* going to be longitudinally profitable; maybe not even in a single year. But this feels like the inevitability, the rise and fall of NFTs.

Once, when I was still in grade school, I asked my mom for more Bagel Bites. Incredulously, she asked why they were all gone when she had just bought them three days ago--when was I hungry to be eating them AND dinner? I told her I had been eating them for breakfast. "Why?!" "When pizza's on..."

Yessss, but also with serrano because winter and that's just how I like most things.

Fr. I've got a spouse. Technically, she is my wife. But the words "wife," "husband," feel intimate to me, so I didn't really like using them in public. Consistently, though, when I did, folks automatically assumed "spouse" for me meant "husband; gay." Cover is needed and useful.

It's truly amazing how limited our minds are--this being a great example. Forget their dumb ass, we don't even initially think, "Hey, how expensive is a burger in a place with higher wages, like Europe?" Instead, we stay on point and argue with the fallacy like dumbasses.

Ooooh. Been a long time since I've been on one of these!

I can not imagine. Is it an op? Is it a joke? How do you tell what block lists you on?

Would it surprise you if I said I already did consider it? I'm just here for friends and good vibes. I was lucky enough to have my answers years ago.

Iunno what the numbers are for folks hanging out in the comments, but I hope I don't skew them too much. 😝

I take a purple one for heartburn, but I ain't got a single idea what I'd be taking be taking the pink/blue one for!

I refuse and you can't make me. I will definitely cheer from the sidelines while reality apocalyptically tears apart in the way we all know it should.

18,207? Why?

Yeah, I mean this would definitely be taste dependent. If sleeping with a trans woman was no longer some sort of *thing,* why not brag about how hot her breasts were? Doesn't necessarily have to focus on the dick, yeah?

Lol. Never heard of it. BlueSky is nice, though.

It is awesomeness, put into bite size Rogue-Lite narratives for your enjoyment.

Oh, are you ever in for a treat (assuming you're into the sort of feel good humor this story utilizes)!

I swear, I'm infinitely more suspicious of folks who have an adverse reaction to the idea of just punching Nazis now than I was right years ago. Something about rhetoric and logical fallacies and...

You know, I never used to proof read on my phone. It used to know what I meant without defaulting to a general dictionary of potentially less verbose folks. But here I am, spouting accidental nonsense because I didn't read what I wrote.

I mean, I'm *guessing* the picture isn't smelling the audience for, but I *will* say "Hiiiiii" in an overly enthusiastic way.

Definitely the octopus. I mean, yeah, I know everybody knows about them and they're not typically considered mysterious or anything, but they are WEIRD little fuckers.

My wife and I struggle with this daily. Our HOA hates us and our neighbors generally just don't interact with us, but if we move to the idyllic deer-as-neighbors country side, our kids then have to deal with "Anti-Woke" schools with their unmasked hatred of all things not cishet and white.

Is this from the "Get your politics out of my vidjya games," crowd? Cuz this totally feels like angst towards folks that have media literacy, and the only people I know that could be mad that someone understood something they didn't...

It's been so long since I've had cats that try to eat anything I'm eating--I remember being infuriated whenever a cat did the thing. Am I missing out? Do I need to reprogram my cats to be anarchists?

Still waiting for some conservative to had played the game and been all "Sydney was pro war," or some other absolute rot. "The Dark was an analogy for wokeness!" Ugh.

One of my favorite things of the game was that, while learning how it worked, the game might just stop you and say, "Nope, your fucked. Just start over. No. Really. Start a new game."

Whole in totally into this whole conversation about conservatives, media literacy, and FFVII, I'm only liking this one for FFT. Now I'm off to hunt down a similarly deep post about Vagrant Story.

A person making $43,520 a year doesn't somehow create the same emissions as the GM plant down the road. It simply doesn't make sense to use the two measurements that are fundamentally disconnected and put them together to place the blame. Plenty of other good points in the replies here.
comment in response to post
This is a really weird attempt at blaming the writing class again and seems bad faith usage of the statistics. Without even bothering to question what "50% emissions" means (what standard measurement do we use?) the median income is set on a bell curve while the emissions are an exponential curve.

For sure, there's definitely a *type* of person who focuses enough time and energy on accumulating wealth. I don't care enough about money or things to do what's necessary. And honestly, that says enough about why capitalism can't work by itself.
comment in response to post
Yeah, I absolutely get this and usually practice this. Buuuuut, I've seen a lot of folks come at you lately, and I love giving up a person that really doesn't know shit about rhetoric when the deserve it Your call, as always, though. I'm perfectly happy just blocking.

I actually enjoyed the web comic in question hear right up until this point, maybe little after. I get where others are coming from on this, but I also think it's kinda... Just meme levels of angst towards Another White Guy™ who doesn't get shit.
