Ok #uglydogs buckle up for a Pepe appreciation story from a #BraverMountain friend, Jake Hway of Chilly Dogs sled dog Kennel in Ely MN. He runs sled dog trips with older/retired sled dogs. I have his permission to share screenshots of his Facebook post. 1/4 (sorry for the lack of alt text- long)

Quince's mom died before the start of the Iditarod, he started anyway. Course conditions caused last minute changes adding mileage, he raced anyway. The race committee decided he and another musher were too far back so they were officially withdrawn, Quince and the team finished anyway.

What do I remember from 2019? Meeting new old friends, cheering as Blair ran the ceremonial and then the official start. I remember the UglyDogs going Bleral. I don't remember Tuesday of the second week. I remember crying as they team reached the finish. I will always, always remember the Igivearod.

Rerun Kennel (Justin) posted on Facebook about 20 minutes ago about his journey and decision to scratch. But in my opinion it looks REALLY bad on the race I commend rerun for maintaining their professionalism in expressing only disappointment in what I’m sure is infuriating circumstances #UglyDogs

It's been a TOUGH week/ month/year... I had to step away from this app for a few days after this week's events. But you know what makes a tough week better? #UglyDogs and the #Igivearod. I'm just sad. I don't want the ITC to turn Iditarod into Everest. Yes, it's a race. Yes, you want to challenge your limits. But it shouldn't be an attempt at the fastest factory line to Nome. That's not the spirit. And it'll only encourage mushers to push their bodies & dogs too far. #UglyDogs

So much can change in the last 200 miles of the #Iditarod, especially with a tight race, so it's exciting to see how this will play out. Paige has been in the top 3 for several days now (and she was the first musher to the age at Galena). I'd love to see a woman win this year!
