It reminded me of the book 'The Infinite Playground'. Play is everywhere, you just have to imagine and find it. And boy its so joyful when you do find it.

A gallery of undefeated winning sticks was made. Kids started naming their sticks, and calling out their shape traits. We played the game for over an hour, until the playpark closed. I had a sudden realisation that I just accidentally designed a successful playground game on a random Saturday.

It was the only option before and yeah it automatically made an instruction booklet. Upon its initial release you could also share and order your own set too with custom box art on the Lego designbyme site. I remember it being quite expensive so I never got to order a custom set through it.

It's so cool! I've tinkered with it a few times before and felt overwhelmed with all the pieces. Years ago Lego used to have a similar software called Lego Digital Designer and I absolutely loved building all sorts of stuff in there.

It also turns out that making Lego cars look cool is much easier than designing a buildable set. This one has a horrific mess of 1x1 plates inside that I want to sort out so I can physically build a version of this car sometime. πŸ˜‚

Also can we design silly games with TWO mouses being controlled at the same time??? What does this MEAN 🀯
comment in response to post
But I can play big ui games like civ without crying in frustration at remembering the gamepad controls. I use my switch a lot on the train tables so the mouse joycon is perfect for me if it's real.

Following feed. When it stopped becoming chronological I got a load of random tweets and ads show up on it that I didn't want to see. I didn't know there was an extension for that! Luckily bluesky is sooo much better though. It actually shows me things I want to see πŸ˜„

Every time I went on the bird site I had to block, report, or mute someone, or mute more words. It wasn't even from people I followed or interacted with. I just kept getting shown 'popular tweets' with no way of opting out.

This pen is the same age as me...

Weirdly relatable because why do splines seem so cool theoretically but always make my levels look so ugly??? Want me to whitebox something with a spline? Ok, but expect a scribbly ball of nonsense for the first 4 weeks.

You best believe I inhaled a whole mini egg chocolate bar the minute it hit the shop floor.

Mine cried in sympathy with me too before and it made me feel a lot more normal like "oh yeah this situation is actually pretty sad thanks for the validation" πŸ₯²

I fear I'd cry if I closed the 100+ tabs I currently have open on my phone chrome browser.

It's actually an ADHD hack I learned from someone. Not sure I have ADHD myself but I do often get sidetracked doing tasks and wonder why the heck I've walked into a room πŸ˜‚

All from one pack??? 🀯

Designing for accessibility doesn't always have to be a big feature request, even a small addition/tweak can make a big difference. Finding those small feature changes with big wins is key in a smaller team. For example: anything differentiated by colour can also use a distinct shape or pattern.

Secret 3rd option: rip the doors off entirely.

Your Ana sleeps are a work of art though.

But also honestly every main action in the game Tiny Glade is just so satisfying.

Freehand drawing paths, rivers or walls and seeing them sculpt and shape the landscape around them.

It's very annoying and painful to use for me. I often also end up accidentally pressing them when I'm trying to do something else. Or I try to press it and end up smacking the joystick in the wrong direction.

New standup format @gravykun.bsky.social ? πŸ‘€

There are plenty of scenarios in which spending time and money on features and options is the appropriate solution to barriers. But don't let yourself end up in a situation where you have spend money on them solely to compensate for unnecessarily exclusionary design choices.

Ooo I didn't know this!

Hard agree. Paddington also sucks. The signals are broken 50% of the time, it's extremely rare that a train leaves on time. And they never announce the freaking train platform until 1 min before the train leaves so everyone ends up SPRINTING to the train. It's my weekly cardio honestly.

I use MigraineBuddy too! I actually like how it congratulates me for being migraine free for however many days/hours. And how it has really compassionate messages when you are logging having a migraine.

Desta has an accessibility report on the family gaming database but you have just made me realise it's out of date since we did post launch updates! I'll check up on that. Monument Valley 3 info will come soon hopefully. www.familygamingdatabase.com/en-gb/access...

Hard to know if we're really indie, but I've been doing some work adding accessibility features and accessibility by design to Monument Valley 3 which releases on 10th December. Also did the same with Desta the memories between (our previous release).

Watched my dad try to find all the important info in the app like how many hour glasses you have, and how much time until the next pack. I suddenly realised how small all of that important text was because he could see none of it.

I loved it. Made me feel like I was playing a handheld game on my Gameboy advance again πŸ’– like a warm nostalgic hug.

My 11 year old sister looked over my shoulder and saw this and said it was very cool.

Another thing that bothers me is a lot of stands are built for standing gameplay which is not at all accessible to many users. It would be great to see more games with appropriate seating and wheelchair access. Also quiet rooms would be so appreciated. 2/2
