I remember you from an another thread. Working with people who advocate dehumanising, eliminationist bigotry doesn’t make you a grown-up, it makes you complicit.

For years when arguing with terfs about them sharing their beliefs with the far right, they make some lame comparison about Hitler and vegetarianism. No terfs - *your* transphobia is the bedrock of the new fascism, not an irrelevant lifestyle choice.

A tedious list of right wing cliches - no wonder he calls himself a centrist.

Amazingly we knew this was a Nazi salute once.

I find this difficult to say, but the UK righty right have stepped up well for Ukraine against Trump this week.

And the Guardian has done as much as anyone to legitimise the moral panic that Trump exploited.

"Anti-trans thinking survived and thrived in the UK, however, becoming part of establishment feminism, only to be “exported back to the US in the 21st century like an unholy boomerang”, she says." www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

A great read. Many 'progressives' in the UK need to own this: "Anti-trans thinking survived and thrived in the UK, however, becoming part of establishment feminism, only to be “exported back to the US in the 21st century like an unholy boomerang”, she says."

I dread to think how Trump would have averted the war - a Sudetenland situation no doubt.

They need their stories to explain away that we were right about the rise of fascism over the past 10 years and why they were absolutely wrong - so they make it all our fault.

What are they dying for? - you said it yourself dumbo - the line has hardly moved in 2 years.

I worked in a small game studio with ancient plumbing. Turds flushed from the male loos resurfaced in the female's. We only found this out when 1 of the 2 women in the team went on holiday - they had silently been blaming each other for not flushing for months.

Is there any evidence that progressives are putting people off working with them due to their approach? I didn’t see that in the report. Is that an assumption?
comment in response to post
This. This is the problem. So called progressives working with transphobes, denying their bigotry and eliminationist agenda and so promoting a moral panic that the far right then use to get into power.

@pickardje.bsky.social - is this a Nazi salute?
comment in response to post
I don’t see any evidence of a backlash in these posts at all - ?

Maybe I’m defensive, but it does not sound like Brighton is the right fit for someone who has spent their life rating every city in England.

I thought that had to be a turning point. Then it was, but not in the way I’d hoped.

Joyce couldn’t have been clearer about this, in her conversation with Staniland. The whole U.K. media class let it pass.

Personally I find it bordering on the psychopathic.

C’mon - 21 countries have self id and the first was 13 years ago. There must be plenty of evidence to support your position?

What are the problems caused by self id in the countries that have adopted for years?

It’s transparent appeasement from a spineless Labour Party. ‘You can vote for us because we’ll let you abuse these people’.
comment in response to post
Look - just because you support and promote the occasional bit of fascist ideology, it doesn’t mean we all have to.
comment in response to post
‘We support the occasional piece of fascist ideology, why can’t you?’ - UK centrists (eg on Joyce).
comment in response to post
Instead of creating a firewall, I’m afraid the centre in the U.K. has tolerated this for too long - and in some cases gone along with it.

Surely it just means ‘I don’t like Muslims’?

When has class dominated England had 1 culture?

I think where this perspective fails, is that it only focuses on the supposed gains reducing support for marginalised people, and not the votes you lose through throwing people under the bus.

I’m sure the Trump govt will call this attack on freedom of speech out.
