It’s so so easy to become politically active in your community. Show up to a city council or school board meeting. Set a reminder in your phone to call your reps weekly. Look up mutual aid groups in your community. Feeling existentially helpless sucks, but you can help your corner of the world.

Between Chestnut Grove last night and Beaver Hill last November, I think it's been laid bare that the current Albemarle county comprehensive plan has created a de facto ban on new mobile/manufactured home parks. The draft AC44 comp plan doesn't look like it'll fix this, either (at least, not yet)

My future vision of government is one in which this is completely normal. Government should not go around begging and bribing companies to open grocery stores or build housing or provide people with broadband. If the market isn't working, government should just do those things itself.
