The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) was established by Benjamin Franklin in 1775 when the Second Continental Congress appointed him as the first Postmaster General.

With Trump there's two levels on which to view his actions. There's the immediate gratification id: Green Hulk. Then there's the other level, the animal instinct level. There's not exactly planning, he doesn't have the focus, but he tilts strategically. Gray Hulk. (Ok, maybe not as smart.)

The Trump DOJ is big mad about their finest legal minds being humiliated in court

sure, mitch mcconnell cynically masterminded the plot to destroy the US constitution and american democracy, but you have to at least credit him with lifting up his own constituents in Kentucky to make it one of our richest and most prosperous... (touching earpiece) wait I'm getting new information

I was at a punk show in 83 where a skinhead jumped up on stage and gave a Nazi salute. The bass player hit him with his bass, knocking him into the crowd and 150 people collectively hauled his ass out of the venue and threw him in the mud. This was the right and only appropriate response.

In addition to Congress being the place that makes the laws, pretty key thing, the constitution explicitly says Congress gets to create the postal system. It’s not left implied that that comes under law making generally. The President has no power to unilaterally abolish it and move it to commerce.

If you’re wondering why I declined to talk to the NYTimes, then you haven’t been following my account for very long. They bear a direct responsibility for the current situation we find ourselves in, and I responded by laying out my position and that I would only talk to @jamellebouie.net

Is it too much to ask to want the government to stop the president from doing the illegal stuff?

I hate that I feel stupid and humiliated every time I have to say "DOGE"

I have a feeling the positive connotations with "disruption" are going to fall out of favor really fast.

Here's how your government is currently being run: DOGE (not a Congressionally created federal agency) which the White House claims is not being run by Elon Musk but whose actual administrator they won't name, is demanding firings, data, access to systems, dissolution of agencies, halts in funding.

wearing sunglasses inside and following an event where he at times had a hard time speaking coherently, Elon Musk walks off the CPAC stage waving around a chain saw. this is the guy currently running our government. Congrats, America!

Serious question: how long until he abolishes Congress?

@tomtomorrow.bsky.social Feel free to use this setup, especially since I'm pretty sure I saw it in a This Modern World once (but done better and with a penguin) and stole it from you.

Tomorrow's Legal Arguments Today: Oyez Oyez. Attempting to "amend" the Constitution is self-evidently unconstitutional, and frankly treason. Except for 2A. No one can limit the President's Founding-Father-given right to run as many times as He wants! It's undemocratic. QED

"We are reviewing websites and programs to ensure they are consistent with our nondiscrimination policies and federal law,” Penn said in a statement last week. THE LAW HASN'T CHANGED, YOU ASSHOLES! An Executive Order is NOT a law!!

My flabbers are gasted my god We don’t even have to go into multiple papers; Federalist #1 wants to throat-punch everyone involved in this

OH HELL NO. This is my favorite rule. It requires that if a wheelchair is lost, it be transported to wherever the user is staying; that if it is damaged, the user be able to choose where it is repaired; and many, many other things that make a huge difference to wheelchair users who fly.

Of course you should be reading Baldwin and Dr. King and Margaret Atwood. But do you want a fun dark teen witchy version, one with a magic school that wants to kill the students, with one of the most powerful wallops of how to fight fascism at the end? Read the Scholomance Series.

Not my king.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, just 11 years old, “took her own life in Texas after she was tormented by classmates who threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorities and have her family deported from the US, her grieving parents have said.” www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

AOC speaking to a thousand NYC federal workers and allies about the urgency of resisting Musk 🔥🔥🔥

It's the weirdest feeling of watching a national disaster slowly unfold while most people around me have no idea. Things are really bad, and they will get much worse, but to most people it's just Wednesday.

This packs a punch. Based on hundreds of interviews. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

Maybe I wasn’t clear about this. I wanted more egg and no plane crash, not many plane crash and no egg.

but this is good.
