I’m very excited! My contrast color is called apple cider donut 😌

I’m going to do what the pattern states and hope that I’m doing it correctly. 😅

Thank you! You have at least given me some confidence to soldier on! I’m making the catknit sweater by Andrea Rangel 😁

I watched a few! But I’m thinking the designer isn’t actually doing a YO short row, but a modified GSR? I just don’t know what the distinction is 😅
comment in response to post
I did start it, but I got nervous I was misunderstanding and didn’t want to have to undo too much if I was wrong. In some if the short row videos it talks about subtle differences between SR techniques in when to turn. I messaged the designer but I’m impatient 😬

Shhhhh 🤫

Fun fact everyone: I (re-)wet blocked the top swatch and lost about 1.5 stitches in gauge. Row gauge remained consistent. Thinking of going down from 4.5mm to 3.5mm for the flat swatch and 4.5mm to 4mm for the in the round swatch.

Now I’m thinking of going back to soak it to see if it changes 😅

The only reason I didnt, is because I don’t want the mohair to become unravel-able. It already hurt to cut the yarn from the first swatch 😆

I’m doing another one right now in the round. I’m considering steam blocking or spraying it to block it. I figure maybe it’ll be easier to frog with the mohair? Not sure. KFO has a deal right now so I just ordered an extra two balls \_(ツ)_/¯

I think this one has only like 2-4 inches of positive ease. 😕

It’s the Astrid Sweater by knitting for olive. It’s knit both flat AND in the round. I’m swatching for both.

I have a foster and he’s a sweetheart but he likes to hoard things in his bed 😆

The pattern actually didn’t recommend how to swatch. Just gave a standard gauge measurement and didn’t specify whether or not to do one or the other or both. \_(ツ)_/¯

Good to know! I’m just worried I won’t have enough yarn for two swatches because I usually reuse my swatch yarn, but I’m holding double with mohair and I don’t want to try taking it apart 🥲 I would probably have enough, but I’m worried about risking it.

Yes, but my sweater will be both. Part of it is knit flat and then it’s joined in the round further up.

Thank you for your honesty 😆 I totally get it. Sometimes I swatch, sometimes I don’t. This sweater is bottom up, so I guess I maybe need to pay attention to my rows? Maybe? Lol

Sorry for such the long delay! I’ve only used them a handful of times but they seem durable so far! I was able to work decreases for a hat with no problem 😁

I’m not familiar enough with my gauge to know if I think it would be different😅 I usually swatch in the round, and I’m right around where I need to be so I roll with it.

These are from Japan! Free shipping over $100 usd, so maybe look into them if you’re in the market 👀

🫠 I’ll have to check it out again when I get home later. So..I’m not doing any fancy joining like when you cast on one extra stitch, slip it to the right needle, then slip the next stitch over and off? I’m just continuously knitting in a circle? Comparing it to picking up underarm stitches helps.
comment in response to post
I’m not understanding what you do with the extra cast on stitches (5 extra stitches in my case) that you’re using to join. Knitting a size large, second number inside the brackets. #knitting 🧶

I’m actually not sure if they’re a smaller company. I’ve seen them used/reviewed by a few YouTubers and I thought I would like them. I followed the step by step sweater pattern by handmade by Florence and she used them.

I love having knitting friends/community! 🥰🫶🏼

The case is actually from muud! I already had it as like a travel bag with slots for needles, so it worked out perfectly. I opted for a free cloth pouch as the seeknit cases are like $50+ extra. The cords seem very flexible! And the curve line was specifically updated to improve the cord join 🤗

What a good idea! For this project I’m using wool ease (#4) so that could be playing a part. Onto the next!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!! Hopefully, my woven ends will look neater, the more practice I get!

I thought I was only weaving under the purl stitch part (on the wrong side) but there are a few spots where it’s definitely coming through my stockinette stitch on the right side 🤨 My sweater is currently drying on blocking mats and hopefully it’ll be less noticeable afterwards.

Well I thought it was funny
