I appreciate that every time the phone updates I now immediately go to settings and search for gemini so I can find all the things that got turned on in order to turn them off

Best thing I’ve seen today.

This year I am hosting the Romancing the Craft conference at Rutgers. It’s an all-day affair on May 3 with some of the best romance writers and editors offering a master class, workshops, speed pitches and more. Details and registration here: bit.ly/RomancingTheCraft

Somebody somewhere Needs flowers tonight

This is Tellen. She went to work with her human today. The only agenda item on her calendar is dropping toys in the hallway until someone plays with her. 14/10

Dismantling the Department of Education has nothing to do with improving outcomes for our kids, it’s simply about taking away resources from our public schools.

unfit for state and majesty.

This.

As requested by a third grader in a letter to my office: Happy Third Graders Day, Minnesota!

ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available? It's literally called Library Extension.

Pass it on. #StandWithUkraine

Excited to be with English teachers at #CATE2025

El Capitan displays a massive American flag upside down—the traditional signal of distress or extreme emergency.

We’re still not shopping at Target.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Litigation Tracker we're producing at @justsecurity.org hits 80 cases Litigation Tracker: Legal Challenges to Trump Administration Actions

Most people probably aren’t tracking this but Senate Republicans just started an all-night voting marathon that will allow them to gut Medicaid and increase child hunger while giving handouts to billionaires like Elon Musk.

So much hatred on display…to think we’ve been living next to it this whole time.

@glossypeach.bsky.social so good to connect with you here!

Great job by Ruben (@rubenbolling.bsky.social).

NAEP is out at least for now #EduSky

With some weird testing schedules, I ended up with a bit of extra prep time this week—which I used to send a handful of positive notes home, offer needed feedback for recent student writing, and research ways to improve an upcoming project. Oh, what a thing it is to give teachers more time...

I hang out with a lot of good people so I have to actively remind myself that there are a lot of people out there who have no desire to be “good” in any way

Keith Haring died of AIDS aged 31 on 16 Feb 1990. One of his last works, Unfinished Painting, was deliberately incomplete, reflecting the devastating, unquantifiable loss to the arts due to AIDS. #LGBTplusHistoryMonth

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

🤢

This is beyond pseudohistory, it’s dangerous. Pure fascism. It is a FACT that Stonewall, riots that changed LGBTQ rights globally, would not have happened without the lead of trans & non-binary people. To erase them, in this way, is despicable, cowardly & to appease Nazism.

I’m sure I’ll need this later on.

New from me: In 1970, only 1 in 5 students with disabilities went to public school. Now, about 15% of students in public schools receive special education services. Eliminating the Department of educatio would have disastrous consequences. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

House Republicans have released their budget plan, and in order to pay for massive tax cuts for the wealthy, they are planning to slash funding for Medicaid and food stamps.

“The administration’s war on D.E.I. is of a piece with a broader effort to turn the nation’s civil rights laws upside down, taking weapons forged to fight racial subordination and wielding them, instead, against any effort…to ameliorate racial inequality and end invidious racial discrimination.”

"Gulf of America" is just a loyalty test. It's a way of checking who is going to abrogate reality for no reason other than a cowardly refusal to stand up to the bully or an opportunistic willingness to toady up to one. Anyone who will call it that will help you round people up or look the other way.

What can we learn from watching Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl halftime show about our pedagogy as educators? How would a holistic pedagogy help us all build towards democracy? Click here to read more!

Maybe I've missed it and if I did, I apologize. But where is a strong statement in support of the Institute of Education Sciences from this collection of education "reformers"? The ones who yelled loudest about the last round of NAEP results? forstudentsuccess.org/beyond-the-d...

Not a single reporter at the Superbowl asked any of the Eagles why they didn't fly the Fellowship to Mordor.

Dept of History kicking in. Orwell called it.

Day off with me and my fav. Great documentary and direction by Carla Gutiérrez #fridaporvida

…and THAT, kids, is why you never go toe to toe with an unhinged gemini

When they ask you who won Super Bowl LIX, you will respond, Kendrick Lamar. I just turned my tv off.

@aliyemarie.bsky.social welcome! Glad to keep in touch here.
