In my book I called it a cinematic universe. People are established as villains and heroes. They become characters in a serialized alternate reality immediately recognizable to fans. There is now deep lore underlying all of the characters & plot points. There are "heroes" exposing "villains".

They aren’t just leaders lying casually via a broadcast. They have a crowd of people that participate & amplify, making their own memes, deepening the belief. Rumors as propaganda. Any correction from outside can be dismissed bc they did the work of delegitimizing media, experts, outsiders already.

I post lots about alt text as disability justice. You should use it on all images and enable the “require alt text” setting. But if your username uses a fancy font, is full of emojis, or has other tedium for screen readers, all your posts are inaccessible, even if you use alt text. Listen to it:
