Actually, Genesis 1 doesn't mention Adam as a separately named person. Verse 27 says god created mankind - ויברא אלוהים את האדם. Adam here stands for person, for humankind of all genders and sexes, as clarified further: Male and female he created them.

UKIP is a political party. They have the same business in determining mental health categories as a car mechanic declaring that turtles are mammals.

A gamble it was, and a terrible one, but it seems to me that rather than the goal being to provoke a Palestinian uprising, it was to upend the Abraham accords and the upcoming Saudi-Israeli alliance, which ignored the Palestinians.

Strategies focused on rational arguments are bound to fail, IMO. The key to reaching the public is creating empathy and identification. Pointing out the injustice, the humongous power differentials at play, the absurdity and viciousness of the claims made, and connecting those with general issues.

It was much more than "Starmer misled members". It was a well orchestrated (and documented, see the Forde report and al-Jazeera's investigation, both quickly silenced by the MSM) campaign by, among others, Labor's right, the Tories and Israel.

For the Israeli center to become a real alternative, two conditions need to be met: one, alliance with the Arab citizens, and two, renounciation of neo-liberalism and a move leftward on economic and social policy. Neither of these things is likely to happen in the near future.

I keep my sourdough in the refrigerator. Once a week I take it out to make bread, then feed it 30 grms each of AP and rye floors, and put it back in the fridge. Once I left it rest unmolested in there for as long as three weeks with no detriment.

I find that a bit hard to swallow. You wanna tell me not a single one of them enjoyed a nice BLT sandwich? Some shrimp salad? A cheeseburger?

Question is whether Trump's inevitable failure to deliver and expected economic downturn in the US will be perceived in UK. Depends on the ability of a left option to organize and make its voice heard. Not very likely in view of fash stronghold on mainstream media, but one never knows.

Try telling this to the Israeli rightwingers, who are seething over Netanyahu's "surrender".

Public bathrooms are border zones. We enter them to excret filthy matter away from the eye of society, naked, alone with our own private shame. This makes us vulnerable, and transphobes exploit this vulnerability by connecting it to the fear of the alien predator about to break in.

Lay people believe their experience of the world is like "what you see is what you get", and facts are given realities. Things of course are more complicated. What counts as a fact is as much a result of our subjective interpretation as it is a specific state of the world.

I can understand rep McBride. She is new, most of her colleagues failed to come to her defense, with some even sympathizing with the GOP. She also has her constituents to think about. Had she fallen for this provocation she would have lost, which would have been far, far worse for trans people.

Correct, but here you are not talking about evolution, but about common errors in the use of language.
comment in response to

"Evolution is a fact" is of course a misnomer. Theories are not facts but conceptual frameworks for interpreting empirical data. That's how science works: it sticks to the best theory until it is modified or replaced by another theory.
comment in response to

Dismissing Evolution as "just a theory" shows a lack of understanding of how science works. All scientific knowledge is "just a theory". There is no absolute or final knowledge in science. To be scientific, a theory must be falsifiable.

It dors make me mad, but I think Ms. McBride did the right thing in refusing to be dragged into the Republican provocation. Not every hill is worth dying on, and a clever politician should choose her battles.

Can you point to where did I write I oppose your right to exist? I am a trans woman myself. I suggest you try better to separate what's in the text from what's in your head.

This is supposed to be a civil place. You are welcome to disagree with me, but that gives you no right to insult me. By the by, "either with me or against me" is not a good way to analyze reality.

It was the right decision, politically speaking. She defused the Republican stink bomb and sent a clear message to her contituents. The Rep transphobes may celebrate a small, soon-to-bee-forgotten victory, but McBride has made it clear she's no game for that kind of foolish shit.
