Was wondering when this would happen, but the 2025 International H5N1 tracking thread for Human case has been started up as A Cambodian man has died from H5N1 avian flu, possibly after eating sick chickens. 2025 International Human H5N1 Tracking Thread www.datareport.info/index.php?to...

They promised hospitals and aged care would be ready to deal with COVID-19. The reality is they are underfunded and can’t deal with it… or much else for that matter. #auspol

Today we report that an engineered skin bacterium, swabbed gently on the head of a mouse, can unleash a potent antibody response against a pathogen. Could lead to topical vaccines that are applied in a cream. @djenetbousbaine.bsky.social led the charge... @natureportfolio.bsky.social 1/55

RFK Jr. is actively spreading misinformation about vaccines, and Vaccine SCIENTIST, Dr. Peter Hotez is still fighting his propaganda! Thank you, Dr. Hotez!

Zelenskyy has rejected the US’ asinine proposal for Ukraine to lower the draft age to 18 years old. "The goal should be to preserve as many lives as possible, not to preserve weapons in storages.”

Imagine an alternative world where we’d put in place mitigations against airborne infections in public places (HEPA filters and better ventilation), widened flu & covid vaccination programmes, had sufficient hospital beds and staff to optimise in-hospital and community alternatives?

Elon Musk who hasn't been elected by anyone.

Bloody oath mate. You missed Cockburn 🤣

The user testing that informed our Long COVID Wearable Study has just been published! 8/9 user testers found that the study-related devices (Garmin devices with the Body Battery feature) were helpful for their #LongCOVID symptom management. journals.lww.com/cptj/fulltex... 1/3

Wow. This post from @thelondoneconomic.bsky.social has been shared 11,300 times & has 60,400 likes on @bsky.app. On X it has just 8 shares & 13 likes (despite a much larger following). Don’t tell me Musk isn’t throttling accounts. Thankfully the forecast going forward is BlueSky’s.

Brilliant 30min talk by David Osborne talking about PPE, the catastrophic failures to protect frontline workers during the pandemic, reflections from Module 3 of the COVID inquiry and lessons for the future. www.pslhub.org/learn/invest...

While recovery is much better than no recovery, two years is an incredibly long time

Again, the outrage is NOT that he pardoned his son. He has the absolute power to do so. The outrage is that HE SHOULD BE PARDONING and COMMUTING 10s of thousands of sentences.

Violet Affleck showing us all how it’s done. Wearing an N95 while assisting at a mission food service. She has repeatedly pointed out that the least fortunate in society are the MOST at risk for COVID - and understands the importance of breaking chains of transmission.

OMG what?!! She’s written a book about hand washing

Dr. Bonnie Henry just said that we catch H5N1 by rubbing it into our eyes or from inhaling the virus, but then said the only thing we need to do to prevent catching it and other viruses is to wash our hands. 🤦‍♂️ She never mentioned wearing N95s and the like. #H5N1 #MASKS

Apparently, epidemiology looks simple to economists. When they try to do it, however, they prove one thing definitively. It's not. #episky #epidemiology open.substack.com/pub/drbobmor...

The report released today by @saferairproject.bsky.social makes a strong case for safer shared air as an accessibility and inclusion issue. www.saferairproject.com/safer-shared...

What this means is that the bird flu virus (H5N1} has*potentially* found a mutation that brings it closer to infecting humans more easily.

If you like second guessing every single decision you make, and having others with very little experience question them as well, parenthood may be right for you.

Just a gentle reminder that fear of movement doesn’t correlate with cardiopulmonary exercise test results in people with ME/CFS. The cause of exercise/physical activity intolerance in living with PEM/PENE isn’t that they are afraid to move. A 20-year-old study. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15283620/

The preliminary sequence from the H5N1 human case in British Columbia has been posted and it is not good news. The virus potentially has a quasispecies at HA residue 226 (H3 numbering). This is bad news because we know that mutations at residue 226 can increase binding to human receptors. 1/

Stephen King, master of the horror novel, just quit Twitter because it'd become too "dark." That's how horrifying Twitter is right now. There may never be a more perfect expression of this fact.

Full force H5N1 has a 58% mortality rate, it is AIRBORNE, foodborne, waterborne, fomite, blood borne, poo, etc. Bonnie Henry, laughs & states, ON VIDEO, there will be no public safety measures for human to human transmission ☣️. This is criminal

From long COVID to breast cancer, how this beloved primary care doctor is coping with tough health challenges. “Scientists are currently studying how the M Protein on Covid-19 virus stimulates a complicated immune response that leads to proliferation of aggressive triple-negative breast cancer”

one of the reasons bluesky works differently is because early users waged a successful fight to get the devs to prioritize safety features to protect communities at risk as a result bluesky now has a suite of controls that i think are unmatched on social media here’s the list, lmk what i’ve missed

Going through the people I follow on Twitter to look them up here and now I'm sadly reminded of who is no longer with us 😢.

That was quite a headline....and question... www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

www.uq.edu.au/news/article... University of Queensland-led research has found inflammatory markers in the blood of long COVID patients which could explain why many experience ongoing cardiovascular issues.

We are the number one app in the United States. I repeat. We are the number one app in the United States.

It seems like there are a lot of food recalls so I pulled the data. Look at how much it has happened since the start of COVID. More evidence of bad cognition and decision making as infection sequelae? www.fda.gov/safety/recal...

This is outrageous. First Avian flu case in Canada, the teen affected went to the ICU. But they aren't using airborne precautions. So this could spread to any number of health care workers on that unit, and further beyond. We have learned absolutely nothing.
