I was confusing the Sterling for the Sten and thought you must be nearly 100. Though the Sterling was retired in '94 so that's still dating you somewhat :)

I've seen a lot of head-canon that it was intention, to let them escape etc. I'm not sure I buy it, as they're consistently bad in the entire original trilogy.

Really? For an "old timer gamer" you don't know Good Old Games? :) It's another store front, like Steam. It's been going nearly 20 years now. It's owned by CD Projekt, who make The Witcher. It was originally intended to sell old (win98) games, but now sells everything, all DRM free.

What am I missing here? It asks me to pay if I click the green button.

I heard you're going to make games now? I know games writing doesn't pay the best, but surely indie game dev is an even starker out luck! Perhaps you'll have a Tom Francis arc and it'll work out ok. He was obsessed with defenestration. What will your games be focused on?

To disable video autoplay, go to Settings, then Accessibility Settings. It’s under Media. You’ll need to update your settings on both Desktop and the app.

For years the world has had to listen to the USA bleat on about its 2nd amendment to justify the murder of children. Well, now you have a tyrannical government…

In the long run the reputation doesn't matter. So don't sweat it about what you're wearing or who sees you do what, as soon the game will be forcing you to do bad, cowboyish things. But I had similar annoyances when I first started playing.

Everything to do with the"wanted" system is completely insane. It mostly just takes it from GTA wholesale, which is why a squad of marshals will just appear in the middle of the desert, hell-bent on capturing you, all for an unseen, minor infraction.

I see you've yet to punch someone in the face when you were instead simply trying to use one of the many other overloads of the 'b' button, like reload. Fun times, usually the whole town goes after you.

I think they're spoofed / forwarded in some way. I get a huge amount of calls from "O2" styled numbers and they're clearly Indian scam centres. Opening a new company in the UK is easy and costs £50. It's something @danneidle.bsky.social is always banging on about. The UK is a haven for scammers.

They're usually based in countries that don't care. If you watch enough Jim Browning videos then you'll notice that he reports them all to the local authorities, but a lot of the time nothing happens until they learn it's on youtube etc.

Only Early Access games. And even then there's nothing stopping the developers slapping the "release" button to get rid of the message. Still, it's better than nothing!

I don't really know much about Ben the person, but given the projects he's worked on and the people he's worked with I was surprised to see him giving air time to LOtFP.

On the one hand, it's LOtFP, so Raggi, ick. On the other this particular tome bears someone else's name (Ezra Claverie) so I gave the video the benefit of the doubt. About 2 minutes in he said "This Deluxe box that James sent me" and I just downvoted and closed the video.

The VGA is better in some ways (the water) but I feel it's worse in others, particularly the ship. I know the EGA was the "original" art and the VGA was based off of it by other artists, so it's hard to see it as anything but a blurry copy. Anyway the Amiga's 32 colour palette is supreme ;)

I couldn't watch Picard season 2, 1 was so abysmal. I stopped Disco in s3 for a similar reason. I really like Lower Decks, yet I'm hesitant to start SNW because 2/3 of Nu Trek has been outright garbage that goes against everything 90s Trek did :( I notice you have a PIC uniform? How come?

Tropes are intended to be descriptive. However, once you're aware of them, they start to become something you can 'mix in' to your writing. The same thing happened in Software Development with the book "Design Patterns". Ironically, learning about such things can often limit creativity.
