Totally, but not every phone would have that issue. It probably depends on a lot. Being slow specifically because of code is always true. And it's rare that a company has pure motives. Either of way it's not the same as people believing the earth is flat.

Assume email isn't secure. Doesn't matter if you use proton or whatever.
Auto-delete messages if using signal.
Use signal.
If it's important and needs the utmost security. Don't put it in writing.
Use email aliases like simple logon or sudomail for phone numbers.

100% I love it and won't go back. Deep google integration is super convenient, but thankfully lots of other options work well and with some thought don't cause to much headache.
