I’ve already started to warmed to them a little. My daughter always greets us with a silly “How do you do?” handshake, so the hugs are the ying to her yang.

That looks awkward if you want the lock to the crossbar and wheels.

I used to carry mine to the bathroom while sleeping every night while they were potty training. They’d pee, then I’d put them back into bed. They’d sleep right through it. They’re still quite a sleepy bunch in their 20s!

I’ll admit that their cycle parking near me needs improvement, but I’m all for keeping freight off the road.

They are always going somewhere far too important to be worried about a cyclist!

If I’m taking the lane to go through a pinch point I make a dramatic manoeuvre back to the left as I emerge. I like imagine the driver behind thinking, “Ah, she was just making sure I didn’t pass her too close & protecting herself. I feel bad for muttering obscenities about her now that it’s clear!”

I’m glad you posted this. It’s how I carry out my commute every day, but if I cycle with my partner he gets frustrated with me. He seems to worry more about the driver’s convenience than my safety and I can’t get it through to him. I’ll be showing him this thread!

I’ve not seen one of those. I imagine it must be easier to load panniers etc without the bike trying to turn in on itself?

BTW, I’m not from the Midlands, but I lived there for a while. I’m sad that they aren’t as ubiquitous as Eccles cakes, Bakewell tart, or Yorkshire puddings!

I had one the other day. We can’t buy them in supermarkets here in Norwich so I bought some online, as well as a mix. I got the mix wrong and decided it could only be salvaged with sugar. For something that felt so wrong it tasted pretty good!
