📣 New publication: Designing inclusive & trusted digital health services with people Why: -Darzi report:dire state of NHS partly due to not listening to patients -people excluded from digital health because of poor design -greater opportunity to better know patients & improve services with digital

NHS constitution makes clear that patients have a right to complain & obliges the service to learn from them. But there is little evidence complaints are being systematically used to improve care. NHS does not consistently welcome, handle, respond or learn from complaints in a patient-centred manner

An effective complaints system should be an essential part of improving health services and restoring public satisfaction with the NHS. We need a change in the NHS complaints system. Read our recommendations www.healthwatch.co.uk/news/2025-01...

Has the Times sacked its Media Correspondent? Scrolling through its news list and it’s missed a huge story involving the monarchy, journalist ethics and a billion pound cover up at a hugely powerful media organisation. Surely more important than whether dogs suffer from January blues?

Six key steps in tackling ethnic inequalities in genomics and precision medicine - NHS Race and Health Observatory:

“she highlighted a failure to listen to patients” Not listening to patients is a huge safety issue. Why does it happen and why is it so widespread? This what I explore in my book #Unheard and try to give solutions at multiple levels. www.bbc.com/news/article...

To give the NHS a chance of planning to meet any targets from April, govt should get on with publishing what they actually are, £ allocations, & payment rules.... ...all now nearly a month later than normal; & 3 months after what would actually be useful www.ft.com/content/ab35...

Patients should be able to expect timely, dignified treatment in appropriate settings. The @rcn.org.uk's report into corridor care lays out the shocking reality, as told by nurses across the UK. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

This harrowing report paints a grim picture of the NHS stretched beyond breaking point with patients and staff bearing the brunt. Accounts of patients miscarrying, suffering cardiac arrests or their final moments in undignified conditions should shock everyone into action. We can’t wait any longer

Heartening to hear @meropemills.bsky.social talk about the positive impact of Martha’s Rule in trial trusts. Thanks for all your amazing work in Martha’s name Merope. #patientsafety

Patients have been moved to intensive care or received potentially life-saving treatment such as oxygen as a direct result of hospitals adopting Martha’s rule, NHS data shows.

“The success of these early numbers shows exactly why Martha’s rule needs to be rolled out across the entire NHS – because when we listen to patients and families and act on their concerns, lives can be saved.” @rachel-p.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/society/2024...
