2 additional radiosonde sites are temporarily suspending launches, while 6 others are reducing to one launch a day. 14 out of 83 sites now have partial or no launches. The more radiosondes are reduced or suspended, the more noticeable the forecast skill reduction becomes.

Fellow Coloradans, this is about the continuing resolution for funding. A vote for this is a vote for Trump's budget, slashing necessary funds from Medicaid and other programs. We need them to vote NO on cloture and NO on the CR. John Hickenlooper: (303) 244-1628 Michael Bennet: (202) 224-5852

House Democrats are very clear: We’re asking Senate Democrats to vote no on this CR, which is not clean.

Barrten and Robin is free today. If you're in the mood for a quick sci-fi romance read that, as a bonus, contains a vampire, check out this novella. It's a campy, B-movie-style novella that is goofy fun and outside of the series' plot. www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRFG1CZF

How much Elon Musk makes from the government a day: $8 million. How much a senior on Social Security gets a day: $65 Guess which budget Musk and Trump want to cut?

Here are things that Elon has likely or definitely fucked up already: >Forced Michael Whitaker out of FAA days before a fatal crash >Shut down Medicaid portal >Sent out bullshit buyout scheme >Set up way for OUTSIDERS to email entirety of agencies >Likely IDed false claim about Gaza and condoms

🚨🧵We couldn’t get most Dems to say the word fascism in 2024, so we’re in no shape to fight it. Yet. Fascism isn’t some kind of 🦄. It’s a common ideology that exists all over the world on the far right of the spectrum and existed here in the 30s until Pearl Harbor.

If you loved that book about The Gods Are Among Us And They're Mostly (Especially Odin) Kind of Assholes, but you're feeling some kind of way about it now that the author has been revealed to be an asshole, I have good news: that is a REALLY COMMON THEME. A 🧵

The collective net worth of America's 813 billionaires hit a staggering $6.72 TRILLION at the end of 2024. The bottom 50% of Americans hold $3.7T in wealth. Once again: It's not radical to tax the rich. It's radical to allow this level of wealth concentration to continue.

I just double checked the numbers: just 22.5% of disabled people are employed in ANY capacity. They are twice as likely as the abled population to work only part time. The unemployment rate is 7.2% for PWD, regardless of education level.

Musicians are getting paid worse than authors, and that takes effort.

What would get better if it was called “attention regulation disorder” instead of ADHD?

Is the pillow guy getting chosen today or is he not scary enough?

Stop and Shop was hacked so badly that they can’t get lettuce and other fresh items it has been a week. What is the story?

This thread is so correct

Newsletter: Blame the tech industry for the rise of authoritarianism. Blame a news media handicapped by a deference to power and a fear of bias. Blame the fact that our digital lives are unchecked ecological disasters. Something must change. www.wheresyoured.at/lost-in-the-future/

this is the reason that i yell so much about literacy. this is the most important issue in our time. every time you have a dumb argument on the internet, consider that there is a high possibility that the person legitimately struggles with reading comprehension. consider that you might as well.

What if the people who voted for Trump don’t actually want government but just want to be entertained and to hate and blame anyone not cishet and white? What if it’s that simple and that horrifying?

WSJ, August 9, 2026: “Elon Musk announces plans to acquire Bluesky social network for $1 billion, citing ‘free speech’ concerns on the popular but money-losing platform” Expect this, and ask what to do so that this doesn’t happen.

Okay, I promised a thread with some of the interesting takeaways from this story. Let me give it a shot! 🧵 To begin: Carolina & Black-capped Chickadees look very similar but they AREN'T each other's closest relatives; the Black-capped Chickadee's "sister species" is actually the Mountain Chickadee.

Don't be pedantic or you'll lose your lunch! Another oldie that I'm still really proud of.

Just so everyone knows this campaign is funded entirely by Philip Anschutz, owner of the Washington Examiner, The Weekly Standard, & LA Kings. He is the chief financier of the AEI, Federalist Society, & Heritage Foundation. he also founded Major League Soccer

Don't worry kids, it's just an awkward coincidence that major news outlets like @washingtonpost.com and @thedailybeast.bsky.social are replacing their top editors with right-wing propagandists before the most fraught election in American history.

People with high-support disabilities deserve fulfilled lives, and yet "Evidence suggests that the patchwork of doctors, hospitals and insurers that has replaced institutions as people's go-to source for care is falling short, limiting people's independence and harming their health." At NPR.
