Another to my backlog! Thank you!

Yeah! The moral lesson doesn't need to be explicitly taught, because it comes from within our own experiences with ourselves and our relationship to the world! We teach it to ourselves instead. In the harsh, grim reality of horror, the moral lesson simply is.

What are your feelings on "horror-lite" and other subgenre categories that seem to be more geared toward people who are less interested in horror? Is it a gateway to get non-horror readers to appreciate the genre, or a dulling down of the genre as a whole? Maybe something else entirely? Thank you!

Ok, lol. Let's try this again! @reviseresub.bsky.social Welcome (back) to my session of #AskEditor for #RevPit I have crushed back another iced coffee and I am ready to go! Ask me anything you want about writing/publishing/editing!

I know you just responded to my question in your other thread, but I have another one already! As someone who is deeply into the horror genre, and someone who sees a huge amount of manuscripts no doubt, do you notice the changing trends in the genre? Do themes/trends tend to go in cycles? Thank you!

Wow! I learned something new about publishing history!

This an interesting insight into how categories change over time and to whom they appeal! Maybe it's generational differences or just trends in general, but I also notice this divide. And maybe publishers need a stronger reason to shake things up!

Is there anything in present-day manuscripts that feels like it's been missing overall? Something you haven't seen in a while and really hope to see become prominent again one day.

I also went by MSWL. Have to respect those individual tastes, and I really hope I did!
