If there were one type of gamete and it was just there or not there, then sure, binary. But nope. There are too many for such a categorization system to actually work.

What they ignore is that the fact that there are two kinds of gametes which can be individually present or absent is itself a reason why bodies are not binary, for the very same reason that 2 x 2 does not = 2.
