“The human phenomenon is but the sum
Of densely coiled layers of illusion
Each of which winds itself on the supreme insanity
That there are persons of any kind
When all there can be is mindless mirrors
Laughing and screaming as they parade about
in an endless dream”
― Thomas Ligotti

No, 'slavery' is not how you spell 'concentration camp'.

I'd much prefer Mainländer's 'Universe as God's rotting corpse' to be a thing.

You can't really have a (independent) nuclear deterrent without a space program. Which France has, but we do not.

That was just the IP address. If you're an activist then it's important to use Tor & a vpn you trust. Proton mail alone is fine if you don't want people snooping on and/or monetising the content of your emails/cloud storage.

True, but as your info is encrypted on their servers, they can't mine it for info and/or hand it over to any state actors.

Yes, I pressed the red button, and nuked the entire OS on my Pixel phone.

Not those. In fact - i'm willing to put money on it - I wouldn't be surprised if they're 'lost' over the next four years.

I don't know how data protection laws compare with those in the UK, & EU, but even with unmodified data, over here there are statutory limitations on who can have it, how it may be used, and every step (access/copying/transfering/etc) has to be meticulously audited.

"Perhaps the greatest strike against philosophical pessimism is that its only theme is human suffering. This is the last item on the list of our species’ obsessions and detracts from everything that matters to us, such as the Good, the Beautiful, and a Sparkling Clean Toilet Bowl"

It's also worth reading 'My Work Is Not Yet Done', which is definitely not friendly to capitalism.....

Ligotti's politics is left-wing, if not outright outright socialist.
