Unfortunately, it gold for about 12 minutes and then the “podcasters” start to get repetitive… despite my prompting! Might be because I gave a website, webinar and PDF all on the same topic. Something for others who use #NotebookLM to be mindful of.

If I try very hard, yes, kind of. Incredible that you've come up with this. Looks more like Will Rogers to me 😉

Some folks feel the same and cared enough to pour their time and energy into a new, better version: readwise.io/read I've been using it for more than a year and love it.

Thank you!

Very cool. If you have time for a few posts outlining the basics of how to do this end-to-end using Claude and everything else, I would read it with great interest! And likely try to do something similar myself for Los Angeles.

I'm sitting here trying to understand why the game keeps getting 40 seconds added to the clock when I'm just trying to watch some race car drivers awkwardly pump up the fans in Las Vegas.

Incredible, beautiful map. Thank you for finding and sharing. I've come across many great maps in nearly 10 years at the company - this may be the best. Crazy to think something as monumental as the San Onofre Nuclear Generation Station came and went, just in the time between this map and today.

This is interesting. I've been wondering (not a lot, but at times) what his driving motivations are. Hadn't considered "Mars rules all." I can see that adding up.

3) What is the average carbon intensity of delivered power in California? 4) What is the technical potential for geothermal power in California? #2 came closest by providing a number, and telling me about 80% were L2... but it was as of 2017.

Cool! What do you find it useful for? It didn't have answers to the first four test questions that came to mind for me: 1) How many rooftop solar pv systems are installed in California? 2) How many level 2 ev charging stations are there in california? ...

Seems like great news! What, if anything, are the implications for the speed and cost of new nuclear projects?

Room for 1 more? I'm a DER engineer turned strategy person, still at the utility!

Hopefully never! It almost feels like a biologically necessary response to help us get through the difficult parts - at least in the newborn stage we're currently working through.

You taught me a new word: nurdle. I'm terrified by what's implied - these little rounded bits of plastic are so small and dispersed they're mixed in with the sand?! Are these released into the environment that shape and size or is it bigger plastic ground down like sea glass?

That’s a wrap. Truly impressive commitment from PG&E and their partners to pull this all together. Exciting to see how much action there is to address the energy transition challenges ahead while making the most of emerging opportunities, including AI.

“The thing that kills a startup is a customer like PG&E.” - Sean Moser, CPO at GE Vernova. He says we all act like we’re unique and ask for modifications. Utilities need to align together on their requirements.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella observed that their data center growth brings huge societal benefits to the clean energy transition. Their capital investments and offtake agreements stimulate grid modernization and drive down costs for renewables, benefitting everyone. Poppe agrees.

Arshad says 15% of the grid is saved for use only 1% of the time (87 hours). Sees this as huge opportunity for load flexibility.

EPRI CEO Arshad Mansoor highlights new DCFlex initiative. Expected to become their “largest ever collaboration” focused on data center load flexibility. Says “rising tide floats all boats” and Poppe believes AI will fund rebuilding of the grid for societal benefit. Teaser: “Mercury” coming in Dec.

Announcing a developer called Westbank will be building three “Nodes” in San Jose that co-locate data centers and housing. The plan is “use the electrons twice” - once for compute and again when all the waste heat goes into district heating and hot water.
