Dave McCormick apparently plans to solve this problem by not having any town halls ā€” or even really opening his hypothetical Philly office

Heā€™s been the best pope in my lifetime, which I have spent not expecting much as far as popes go.

Well, thatā€™s what I was thinking but entirely flexible if thereā€™s something else meriting celebration

Brendan is a treasure, and I marched in the alternative parade in support a few years when I lived in NYC. www.irishstar.com/news/new-yor...

I think calling off the White House, but still visiting places like New York, Philly and selectively celebrating with non-MAGA diaspora is the best move. One event to get to know is Brendan Fayā€™s St. Patā€™s For All Parade in Queens, NY.

My surname change happened (several times, actually) in Ireland before immigration, but people always ask about Ellis Island when I mention itā€™s a messed-up Irish name.

I did a walkthrough, hereā€™s a timelapse. This is probably the biggest demo in D.C. so far post-inauguration, brought together by the 50501 Movement which originated on Reddit. Everyone was chanting ā€œfire Elon!ā€ while I was filming this.

I havenā€™t had a lot of responses from those I have contacted. I suspect a number are no longer with us.

Agreed! If there werenā€™t so many stakeholders who may have offline evidence, Iā€™d just go ahead and unhook the earliest ancestors I have evidence for from the unsourced earlier parts.

I like to think of myself as good at self-orienting to on-line resources, but I give full credit with endless gratitude to Cyndi Ingle of @cyndislist.bsky.social for the webinar that opened my eyes to the free collections I didnā€™t realize how to find on FamilySearch.org.

I am also always happy to compare notes with potential relatives off that site, but I think a lot of people donā€™t realize how useful it is.

So, I *didnā€™t* use the site for a long time for that reason; however, itā€™s an invaluable resource in the genealogy community.
