Russian hackers infiltrate our system *every* day. They are constantly looking for persistence (long term access) in our critical infrastructure. If Hegseth thinks that they’re going to stop just because we do, he’s even more out of his depth than I thought.

RFK Jr. Vows To Make Measles Deaths So Common They Won’t Be Upsetting Anymore theonion.com/rfk-jr-...

At least the people who needlessly die in the next wave of hurricanes will die in a world with fewer pronouns. I'm sure that'll be a comfort to their loved ones.

Third Way exists to give Politico and Axios the quotes for rarebit articles, and Politico and Axios exist to give Third Way an unearned sense of relevance. Just ignore them all, and don't fall for their effort to make Third Way the secret voice of actual Democrats

I think this is correct. Everyone involved in aviation KNOWS FOR SURE that reckless/ rampant changes of past six weeks will, *for sure,* make airplane crashes more likely. But no airline exec wants to be the first to say this in public.

Hegseth has ordered the Pentagon to STOP offensive cyber operations against Russia. This is insane. Russia is actively targeting the U.S., and the ability to conduct offensive operations (which was authorized by Trump in 2018!*) was at least one deterrent. Not anymore www.nytimes.com/2025/03/02/u...

remember when this guy covered up a brutal police killing? i do!

Sadly, it’s time to revive this 2017 TIME cover.

To go along with our piece today, we published an extensive list of folks associated with DOGE. It builds off and adds to the strong work that Wired, WaPo, ProPublica and other pubs have been doing. The public has a right to know who is dismantling the government. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

That they got to this so fast, and over such triviality, shows it was always around the corner

NEW: The first front pages of Saturday’s newspapers in the UK. “Ukraine Hero Ambushed” “Trump stuns world with vile rant at Zelensky” “A spectacle to horrify the world” Trump is obliterating the global reputation of the US.

2016: GOP dilutes party platform regarding aid to Ukraine under Trump 2019: Trump tries to withhold military aid until Zelensky “announces” an investigation into the Bidens 2025: Trump and Vance openly side with Putin It’s been the play the whole time, now it’s just out in the open

Donald Trump is aggressively undermining America’s significance on the world stage, except as a pariah state and sad servant of Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation. Any of us in America who believe in democracy must look to leadership in Europe.

In an extraordinary display of public support, heads of state, heads of government, and foreign ministers from all over Europe and Canada are posting in support of Ukraine in response to the Oval Office meeting with Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vance.

Worth noting that when the war started Zelensky’s English was very shaky and he’s clearly spent a ton of time improving it for exactly this purpose.

Republicans are lining up to denounce Zelensky because their base was seduced by a cranky old racist with a fondness for dictators. Just wild how the whims, prejudices, and weird obsessions of a senile 78-year-old have completely supplanted the party’s priorities — and reshuffled the world order.

Give me a few days

Today, in a meeting at the White House, the only person actually defending American interests was Zelenskyy. Let that sink in.

Looking at some survey data here. Trump/Elon cutting off all cancer cure research is the issue that freaks voters out more than any other, also the one they've heard the least about. Important for voters to hear more about this.

This is what was talked about in project 2025 the unitary executive theory It’s bad! www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/o...

"Battle Royale" is a very good way to describe a situation that kills a huge number of children for the sport and profit of the absolute worst people alive azcapitoltimes.com/news/2025/02...

I don't know what Jeff Bezos means by "personal liberties and free markets." But I do know this: The biggest threat to personal liberties and free markets in America today is Donald Trump. My @postopinions.bsky.social column on this week's trauma at the Post. wapo.st/3DaSKxX

How are we still getting articles like this? The "close cousin" of COVID that the Wuhan lab possessed wasn't particularly close! There's still no evidence that the lab had the virus it allegedly leaked.

Given the nature and scope of what they're doing the odds of governmental capacity being built back up in the next decade or two are far less than the odds of angry mobs literally tearing them to shreds and putting their heads on pikes. Not even joking.

Anyway, I wrote a newsletter today. In it I talk about a lot of things but I rage against the regime's anti-trans military diktat, the purge going on at NOAA, Republicans wanting us to die of consumption, the media's privileging of lies, and Gene Hackman. Normal Friday shit.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Most drastic cut in spending by US consumers in three years last month despite decline in inflation.

Oliver Darcy has some very good points here

Trump’s EO ruining the independence of federal agencies shows the real goal of Musk and Trump is not efficiency or even winning the culture wars. It’s thievery. And they are *exceptional* thieves. My latest in @thenation.com

I don’t think you should remove mention of marginalized people from your applications and boilerplate if you have federal funding but there is a utilitarian case to be made for removing specific words and phrases because of the way the text is scraped and run through ChatGPT by wealthy illiterates

Eliesmash

We talk about Bezos, or Citi, or Big Tech, but cancer's brand is seriously in the toilet. Everyone hates it. And yet, day one hit from Trump/Musk was to shut down all federal funding for cancer cure research. And it's still mostly shut down. Have you ever known anyone with cancer?

Rousseau would have been a great blogger I think.

Cheers for Washington Post columnist extraordinaire @danamilbank.bsky.social, who writes today that "the single greatest threat to 'personal liberties and free markets' in the United States today" is "President Donald Trump." wapo.st/3DaSKxX (gift link)

as someone who’s worked in the service industry, every job ive had at a small business has been more exploitative and abusive than the ones at corporate joints. trumps biggest base of support is from petty tyrant small business owners. if you want to consume ethically, support worker cooperatives

Feels like we are entering an era where the hushed conversation in a lot of (all-white) media boardrooms is, in careful euphemism, “we’re not hiring black people in major roles anymore” www.nytimes.com/2025/02/23/b...

Dan Bongino is a bit like appointing your horse to the senate, more a gesture of contempt than a sign of faith

The risks of kissing the ass of an incontinent

Put me out of my misery.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement, both personally and in these social media streets. So very proud of The Reidout @joy.msnbc.com team, who are truly family, and all of our supporters & friends. See you tomorrow night at 7, one more time ‼️

The little spark of hope generated by Gaetz that (a) there was a bottom and (b) Republicans on the Hill might remember that Trump is a lame duck and that it's time to start planning political futures without him... really didn't pan out.

No Joy Reid. No Mehdi Hasan. No Alex Wagner. Uh huh.

Kash Patel should have been a redline. Bongino is what you get when R Senators fail to do their jobs and say no to Patel. The Trump Admin is turning federal law enforcement over to unqualified, unprincipled, partisan henchmen. It's unacceptable and conservatives need to say so.

An entire Trump Administration of the world's worst Affirmative Action hires compromising of thoroughly unqualified men, white mediocre men, kiss ups, toadies, bootlickers and cultists.

A president rapidly sundowning into full-blown dementia ambiguously handed power over the entire government to a delusional billionaire drug addict in a made-up illegal quasi-office and the Cabinet is split over whether their departments have to listen to his mad orders. It's day 34.
