I'm a Senior Information Technology Professional. I maintain a large number of computers with various OSes, printers, and whatever else. One of my co-workers described me an "Omni-Tech" because of my varied skill set with all technology.

More like the old Twitter here with suggestions based on your prefs. It recommended Technology Connections to me which was a no-brainer "follow". Takei too, I think.

Honestly, I wish some would die off so at least we'd consolidate a little.

I am now ready for this to be next year's Christmas light video. The tradition must continue in some form.

While I was in college, I worked at an Apple dealer. We had a print shop with a Lisa and we converted it to a Macintosh XL, which I think was swapping out the ROMs and a few other things. I think it basically turned it into a Mac Plus.

I was working at an Apple Service Provider as a tech when the Bondi Blue came out and these. We did a lot of repairs for them. Not that they were bad, just so popular we had many in for service for the usual things. The 6GB drives were know to fail often.

I've had the 1817+ (8 bay) for a long time. I run it with dual drive redundancy in SHR. That has saved me at least once when one drive failed and during the rebuild a second drive failed. No data loss or downtime. I do have backups, of course, but for me it's my time that is valuable.

I was going to say the same thing. If you do get a new computer, and have the space, maybe go all-in with Linux on the old one and experiment?

Plenty of MAGA nuts in the giant echo chamber feeding each other conspiracy theories.
