For my own sanity; I've been on a mostly news blackout since November. I've been slowly trying to wean myself back on the news by at least being aware of what's happening without doom scrolling all the awful details. That said I draw the line at looking and hearing him talk; I've had enough of that

Since November; I've made an active effort to cut off most social media and news (not socially responsible, but I just can't take any more doom scrolling). Facebook ironically has stayed though; mostly because I live in Canada, where news links are blocked on FB. So, yay for that...

But since January 6th already happened, any threat they could cause will be taken seriously, and preventative measures are likely already planned. Plus, he's due for sentencing after the election (among other court cases), and if he does lose, there's no incentive to give him a slap on the wrist.

Call me naive, but I don't think he can survive another loss politically. He'll deny he lost and won't concede, but he'll have no major levers of government to influence this time. Fox News won't repeat "rigged election" because they'll likely get sued again. All he can do is rile up his base...

Honestly, the only reason I still go on twitter is to see when the people I follow are making the jump to BlueSky

I really like Strands, because the trick to me is to figure out what the theme is asking for. Once I get it, it clues me into possible answers; 2-3 are usually right. And once you have a few on the board, it can narrow down the selection of possible words a lot! I like it way more than word search!

People like to act like that episode "ruined" The Simpsons, which I never got. It's absurd, but it knows it and has got lots of great jokes. Also, for my money, it had plenty of great seasons afterwards. As for Frank Grimes... Well, I am quite a fan of dark, mean humor, so I do dig it...

I thought it was a widely accepted fact that Leonardo DiCaprio's worst acting (and Claire Danes while we're on it) was in that movie. The way they quote Shakespeare's work is just so uncanny...

I first heard of her in the whole GG fiasco where she was one of the women harassed. Obviously terrible that that happened, but it was only a few years ago I discovered the "game" she made: store.steampowered.com/app/350200/R... That shoulda clued me ages ago she was an attention-seeking grifter

Biden's a guy that's consistently underestimated, so it wouldn't shock me if he was able to pull it off. But the news cycle was such a self-fulfilling death spiral for the Dems, that they needed to change the narrative. And to their real credit, this transition has gone as well as it could...

Not as memorably awful as "X-Men Origins - Wolverine", but still very underwhelming. No memorable characters, and I never felt any sense of danger. All of the interesting places it COULD go are merely hinted at. Logan ultimately makes good on it all, but it makes the 2013 flick feel pointless.

I mean... Everyone is well above the other guy. But apparently, that doesn't matter anymore. You can literally orchestrate a coup and somehow not just run again, but apparently be in the lead. He's broken a billion norms, but he's been around long enough that his chaos is the new norm...

Granted, I have no solution here... I don't know how we stop what's coming in November... The only idea I have is that there needs to be grassroot mass mobilization to motivate people to hold their nose and vote for the Dems and it CAN'T come from the DNC.

I dunno... I worry about a repeat of "Hillary Clinton" in that both of them aren't great at trying to be "relatable" which sadly matters. If they go down that road, they should play to her strengths and have her campaign like a prosecutor. People want a fighter who'll put him down

Let's add injury lawyers for good measure; lord knows they don't have enough billboards in LA. We could have a scenario where a Cybertruck crashes into you when its accelerator jams again, and have the convenience of the number to call to sue the offender being literally slammed in your face.

When you're a kid, you know nothing. It's all exciting an new. When you're a teenager you know EVERYTHING! How can no one else see this! That stage in adulthood you describe is very important, because it makes you work harder to try and at least know SOME things as well as possible...

I get not feeling particularly inspired for HL3. But again this is Valve, who certainly have the resources, and if they really wanted to make it, they would have by now. The fact that they seem content to leave such a major cliffhanger unresolved is narratively irresponsible.

There are tons of unresolved stories in the mediaverse. Usually it's because the money isn't there to continue it or the original project was seen as a failure that no one wants more of. Neither of which are the problem here. Valve just... won't... do it...

I don't disagree with this assessment, though "you know who"'s mishandling of COVID's gotta put him up there. Is this more of a statement about the previous administration being in some ways, too incompetent to be as damaging as they could have been?

Because I think about the show more than "Speech's band", I immediately imagined Ron Howard narrating that verse and was thoroughly confused

As a Canadian who went on vacation to Vegas and LA this summer, I was shocked at the sheer amount of those billboards. Is that a common thing in the US, or is it specifically in that region?
