Yes, and before I focused on sleep, I worked in community mental health as a social worker. Mental health and sleep are so interconnected, but sleep isn't often treated as a distinct issue in itself. I could see that medications weren't fully addressing WHY someone was having ongoing sleep troubles.

Yes! Sometimes just accepting that we're awake and getting up to do something else reduces a lot of the pressure and frustration. I found that worked well for me too.

As a sleep therapist, I second this! It doesn't have to be rigid, but changing it up when you're feeling frustrated can help a lot. Moving sides, switching to the end of the bed, or even making a cozy "nest" next to your bed can help. Gotta make it work for you and reduce effort around sleep.
