$hit. I laughed.

This letter appeared in the Bloomsburg PA Press Enterprise this morning. I am assured the writer is who he purports to be, an Air Force veteran.

omg this thread about Gretzky’s wine is 10/10

I see this and think “holy shit, school curriculums need a massive overhaul” - it is not healthy for a functioning democracy to have this level of misunderstanding.

A very important long term goal for Canada. Ireland has experience of a neighbour losing its mind, and thankfully we had diversified enough at that point we could basically tell them to pound sand when they demanded special treatment.

These get confused with one another. Journalism is a social practice: reporting the news. The Media is the attention business. The product is audiences. The Press is an institution that endures over time as people come in and out. The news industry is a seller of information with recency value.

Turns out today is ANOTHER good day for Pierre Poilievre to prove to Canadians that he’s actually capable of passing the standard & normal security check, & get the security clearance that he’s refused to get. Until he does, I’m continuing to assume that it’s because he knows that he can’t pass it.

“Someone with a 1-hr car commute needs to earn 40% more to be as happy as someone with a short walk to work. On the other hand, if someone shifts from a long commute to a walk, their happiness increases as much as if they’d fallen in love.” #CityMakingMath 50 reasons to want more walkable streets.

For example. My mother, who does not watch news, had a speaker at her Toronto area church on the wknd. This person explained how the USAID cuts were impacting the church’s volunteer work with AIDS persons in Africa. My mother heard every word. And is telling all her friends about it.

Efficient nihilism.

Canada (and world) absolutely needs to take threat that US will invade Canada seriously & literally.

🎯

I cannot disagree w this sentiment. Even when a democratic is in power, the EU feels a more natural fit w Canada.

After Elon Musk has been insinuating to turn off Starlink in Ukraine, Poland‘s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski is reminding Musk that Poland is paying for it, and he is making clear that if Musk follows through that Poland will abandon Starlink altogether for being an unreliable service.

He has just made it very likely that no military organisation will allow themselves to be placed in such a situation again. Why would Starlink ever be seen as an assured, trusted service?

Great sticker ITW

At some point in your life, quietly but momentously, you get carded at the bar for the last time

If they can seize it, this is a massive opportunity for Europe to take a huge lead over the US in science and technology.

❤️🍦🍨🤰🏻

ok i laughed out loud

Good luck flying into and around the US with no TSA folks.

Federal government launching a new service standard that if your passport application isn't processed within 30 business days, it's free. #cdnpoli

10/10

This depresses me to no end.

Spotted in Canada…

The Canadian embassy in DC has just removed its friendly banners… just in time for the presidential motorcade to pass. Coincidence? See below, before and after

I have mostly saved all my political buttons since I was a teenager. This, friends, was a button from the 1988 Free Trade Election fight...

been thinking a lot about the media reaction to Biden's first debate performance compared to its response to fascism

This remains one of my favourite retaliatory strategies: Ban US coal trans-shipments that use Canadian ports for export. Instead, retrofit Roberts Bank (Westshore Terminals) to export more Canadian crude (on an expanded TMX) instead of US coal. What say you, Jimmy Pattison? Feeling patriotic?

We need to pay attention to Canada. It's a difference between a trade war and economic warfare.

Imagine passing this the same week someone announces an mRNA vaccine may cure one of the deadliest types of cancer People are living in subversive information madness

can't believe it's 2025 and i'm stressed about tariffs and measles, like am i a character in an american girl book

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

It’s important to note in both instances xenophobia and white supremacy fueled the push for both outcomes.

The challenges ahead are so monumental that we need nothing short of a new national policy, and a Royal Commission that helps to bring it to life. And we need all of this yesterday.⬇️

This is beyond childish. Why are American politicians like this? 🔗: www.bostonglobe.com/2025/02/27/n...

An underrated part of this video is you can watch the Dow go down in real time in the bottom right

Dolly Parton is a god damn National treasure.

Mike Myers, Canadian legend, on SNL tonight.

Actually this is a move of substance.

You revived a historically unpopular political party, brought the Quebec independence to a near-record low and turned Edmonton against Wayne Gretzky. I think "soon" happened about two weeks ago

When we hit our 20s and early 30s we think we have moved past certain things. After a few more years you start to realize nobody ever moves past anything. Gene was a capital ‘G’

I hope this is true.

I've said it before and will say it again -- the Trump administration is not acting like one that fears democratic accountability next year or in 2028. Draw your own conclusions.

If he does this, G7 needs to be kiboshed. As do any defence contracts between Canada and US defence companies. And let’s not forget Five Eyes.
