One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

This is our Gestapo.

It is legally impossible to deport citizens. This is not deportation. Removing citizens to foreign prisons, knowing to a certainty that they will be subjected to treatment that violates the U.S. constitution, doesn’t deserve any label that connotes legal legitimacy.

"This has been a tough week for those who believe diversity is our strength, immigration built America, we should take pride in our capacity for generosity and decency, and free speech and due process are at the heart of our commitment to democracy & justice." www.americaamerica.news/p/whose-amer...

I’ve never seen a tweet that more effectively communicates how we got to this current situation

BREAKING from @science.org: The Trump admin is seeking to kill nearly all climate research at NOAA, its climate science agency. Its near-final budget proposal would end all NOAA research labs, academic institutes, and regional climate centers. And it wants to fully end the NOAA Research division.

First came the market manipulation. Now come the bribes.

This is incredibly dangerous. If he can get away with this he will open a flood gate of targeted investigations of private citizens. We are stepping through the looking glass of fascism in real time! Congress needs to act immediately.

RFK Jr. told me he would "address drivers of maternal mortality.” But he just fired the researchers that work to improve the health of mothers and babies.

Markets are tumbling, but listen to this entire thing. He is going to do this unless we mobilize. Trump plans to disappear American prisoners into that hellhole in El Salvador. Believe him when he says this.

Can we get more of this? “The Japanese American National Museum will ‘scrub nothing,’ Fujioka said, and instead will highlight the importance of DEI. “Our community is based on diversity, equity is guaranteed to us in the Constitution, and inclusion is what we believe in,” Fujioka said.

www.nytimes.com/2025/04/03/o... Really important piece to share widely. Too many Americans don’t know how severe a threat this Administration poses to our scientific infrastructure, global leadership, and health security

Reminder: as the Dow is tanking faster than 2008, and four dead servicemen arrive at Dover, Trump is golfing: with the saudis

John Adams defended the Boston Massacre perpetrators, who were uniformly reviled at the time. We either have due process or we don’t. “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence".

The Trump administration’s war on science is slashing funding, shutting down labs, and driving top researchers overseas. The cost? Medical breakthroughs, technological innovation, and America’s future. My latest adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/the-scienc...

Donald Trump and Elon Musk have frozen funding for federal programs that provide support and sustenance to dozens of millions of older adults and people with disabilities, including Meals on Wheels.

America taking over Greenland is a foolish idea. America destroying its relationship with Canada is utter idiocy. America applying tariffs and engaging in trade wars with neighbors is economic nonsense. A lunatic is holding America hostage and his enablers are making fools of themselves.

TX measles cases are now up 400, with 41 people hospitalized, and 2 deaths in an unvaccinated 6-year old child and an adult in New Mexico. Case numbers growing in other states. Instead of promoting vaccines, RFK Jr. promoted vitamin A, which has now resulted in kids being treated for liver damage.

WilmerHale was polite, professional, and direct. BigLaw could learn. Now, WilmerHale needs to actually fight this thing out. These orders are blatantly, insanely unconstitutional.

I’ve read several articles today referring to RFK Jr. or Geier as vaccine “skeptics”. I again beg the media to STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION. They are not skeptics. They are lying, grifting, unqualified frauds who are promoting a conspiracy. “Conspiracy theorists” would be much more accurate.

I want you to understand this is happening in our name and we know most of these men committed no crimes. One is a professional soccer player who was tortured in Venezuela and was working through asylum in the U.S. ICE shipped him for his Real Madrid tattoo and a picture throwing rock & roll horns.

Commentary: "Trump, a man who dodged the draft with phony bone spurs, and Hegseth, who has spent his career exploiting veterans for personal and political gain, have done more to dishonor military service than any foreign adversary’s propaganda ever could."

From interview of Lee Bollinger, 1st Amendment scholar who served as dean of @UMichLaw, president of @UMich, and president of Columbia University. www.chronicle.com/article/were...

The FBI is trying to criminalize Habitat for Humanity for receiving climate grants from the EPA. Yes, the nonprofit that builds houses for low-income people. This clearly demonstrates just how absurd and extreme the Trump regime has become. It's targeted harassment.

Walz: I think they hate public education because it’s easier to run an authoritarian government if you don’t have a population that knows.

Absolutely superb and important piece by Professors @stevelevitsky.bsky.social and @ryanenos.bsky.social The only way to fight authoritarianism is to fight together. Strongest institutions in the front. www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

If you’re pissed about Sen. Chuck Schumer caving to Trump and Elon Musk, take the pledge to boycott contributions to all Senate Democrats until they replace him as leader: chng.it/mZgjGv9rS9

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

A recent study found that cervical cancer deaths in young women have plummeted since the introduction of the human papillomavirus vaccine.
