Let’s talk about “fairness” www.vox.com/the-highligh...

Mark Dimondstein, the president of @apwu.bsky.social, warned me in January about the right-wing threat against the Postal Service. It's not about efficiency—it's about funneling services that belong to the people into the hands of billionaires. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Histories wanted! Are you a recently terminated federal employee? Historians want to record your story! There's so much you know; let's get it on the record. You may record anonymously if you wish. www.oah.org/2025/03/04/f...

congrats to all the liberals calling the attacks on trans people in the U.S. "tragic but inconsequential since there aren't all that many of them" for finally finding out what they'd have done in 1930s germany

Judith Butler: "Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic, because that means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice, and a third, a fourth, and then what happens?"

They have the votes to impeach and convict him So they are not helpless They are complicit

I want a rpg like Dragon Age except it’s Bridgerton and you have to find a suitable partner before the end of the game through stealth and dates but you have to let me have a fully customized pc, a pc home, and a pc wardrobe. Oh and collection system like Skyrim. Oh and you also fight crime.

i don’t even know if crime is the right word for the illegal destruction of USAID. it is an autocratic power grab and a direct attack on the sovereignty of the american people

The word for this is "coup."

This is one of the images deleted from the CDC historical archive, by the way. I downloaded it this morning and can't access it anymore. We are ready to repeat the past.

“Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic,” they said. “That means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice and a third, a fourth. Then what happens?”

what Musk is doing is as close to the government being taken over by a hostile foreign power in our lifetimes, the coverage should reflect that

As an archivist, I'm shocked and heartbroken to see this in addition to the CDC wiping entire pages off their website. The loss of this data will be incredibly destabilizing, what else will we lose today?

From a journalist friend: Just spreading the word. The CDC is purging data, so people should archive their favorite CDC datasets today, namely ones around race/ethnic diversity, LGBTQ, and reproductive health. Also health data involving climate. The youth risk behavior survey has already gone down.

I'm a former OMB official and this is absolutely true. And let's also not forget that these illegal actions have direct, harmful consequences for actual people. New moms won't get help feeding their infants. Small businesses won't make payroll. People could lose their jobs, their homes.

“At least 160 journalists, translators, fixers, and others helping with newsgathering have been killed … deadliest period for reporters since the Committee to Protect Journalists began keeping track in 1992 … the vast majority of those killed have been Palestinian.” www.cbsnews.com/news/record-...

“In order to shoot off one email per week for a year, ChatGPT would use up 27 liters of water, or about one-and-a-half jugs… that means if one in 10 U.S. residents—16 million people—asked ChatGPT to write an email a week, it’d cost more than 435 million liters of water.”

"A request made through ChatGPT, an AI-based virtual assistant, consumes 10 times the electricity of a Google Search" This isn't a game. This is accelerated destruction via huge usage of power, water, resources etc. Stop using it - especially for messing about!! www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

Libraries aren't supposed to make money either.

ME FROM 9 PM TO MIDNIGHT: I am exhausted ME AT 1 AM: Need to research how to do trapeze

It’s genuinely shocking if you’re remotely familiar with the basic facts of trans care and youth medicine. It is *profoundly* difficult to access gender-affirming care as a minor and the Times has printed more than a dozen articles implying that it is too easy.

Heart shattering to learn an Israeli drone has targeted and assassinated Mahmoud Almadhoun, one of the founders and chefs behind the Gaza Soup Kitchen. What started as four pots and essential ingredients in Bait Lahia had grown into a remarkable effort to feed 3,000 people daily.

Just a reminder that Amazon workers are striking tomorrow through Monday, and that none of the “deals” are good enough to justify crossing the picket line.

NEW: Porsha Ngumezi is the fifth case we've reported on in which a woman died after not receiving a D&C or its second-trimester equivalent in time, or at all. Her case raises questions about how abortion bans are pressuring doctors to avoid standard care even in straightforward miscarriages.

Hey so FYI, all the “we must, with heavy hearts, jettison trans people into the ocean to win votes” columnists are actually just transphobic themselves

We're tired. You're tired. @transscribe.bsky.social is tired. The U.S. election cycle is too damn long.

The bad feelings I feel aren’t resignation that he is going to win. It’s grief that literally no matter what Trump says or does, people all around this country continue to vote for him. They don’t care about me or my kid or brown & Black people or trans people or queers. Everyone I love.

for reference today

Just a reminder that while Republicans publicly distance themselves from abortion in these last critical weeks before the election, they're quietly filing lawsuits against mifepristone that would impact the whole country - not just anti-abortion states

Honestly the FTC’s impact on our daily life does not get the attention it deserves. Lena Khan is hateddddd by the rich and we need to keep her where she is.

WOW

If you live in one of these 10 states (AZ, TX AR, MS, FL, GA, TN, KY, IN, OH), today is THE LAST DAY you can register to vote. Even if you think you're registered already, double check to see if your registration is still active. Please do this, it only takes a few minutes. Pass it on.
