This is the best post-mortem I’ve heard of why the Democrats lost, by Dem pollster David Shor. Let me shock you, it was the economy (and racial depolarisation, and the Dem trust deficit on basically every issue, and that “democracy on the ballot” didn’t land.) www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/o...

They’re starting to roll out the sell off of public lands to the rich.

90% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die from the disease. That's why the medical community is excited about the results of a small trial in which nearly half of the pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine for the disease remained relapse-free three years later.

I hate it when some of my old posts become relevant again ("What If the Federal Government Begins Defying Court Orders?", Feb. 27)

I used to work at a national park site called Perry’s Victory Memorial in Ohio. The site interprets the War of 1812 & the over 200 years of peace between the US and Canada since the signing of the Treaty of Ghent ending the war. It’s gonna be awkward as hell for the rangers at the park this summer.

Laid-off federal workers are overwhelming states with unemployment requests, putting a strain on finances Some states, such as Maryland, are receiving 30 to 60 unemployment assistance requests from federal workers per day www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Magnificent northern shoveler from today looking nice and weird 🦆 #weirdducktime 🪶

A strong business case against DOGE-ery, and in the NYT not WSJ. "The stability of the nation’s laws, and of the government’s role" underlie America's great success in fostering private-sector investment. "Americans like to take risks; to do so, they need a government that is steady and reliable."

‘I lost my job, my housing and health insurance all in one day’: Federal workers say cuts go deep www.wyomingpublicmedia.org/open-spaces/...

The US Attorney in Washington DC is investigating Georgetown Law School, demanding that "if DEI is found in your courses or teaching in anyway [sic]," the law school should "move swiftly to remove it" Federal prosecutors don’t control the classroom. This is a dark abdication of the First Amendment.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

This is a direct attack on the First Amendment. Regardless of how you feel about DEI, teaching any element of it is protected by the First Amendment. This is a federal prosecutor attacking the curriculum of a private Christian college. Inexcusable.

Fired federal workers share the crucial jobs no longer being done Six people describe what they were doing to benefit public health, safety and the environment www.sciencenews.org/article/fire...

Just saw a guy in a Chiefs sweatshirt get booed in a hospital

Sharing some icy beauty from a few days ago. Love the frosty native plants ❤️ and how even though they may look dreary this stage brings spring promise 🌱

one thing that has become crystal clear over the last two weeks (if it wasn't before) - these are not the guys we need right now www.idiotbox.site/p/these-are-...

I need to tell you guys about an incredible new ncaa athlete name

Another fun detail lost here: most federal staff work for their agencies and not OPM. OPM provides central policy guidance and benefits, but this would by like if your health insurance provider sent you an email asking you to resign from your job. I don’t see how any of this is legal.

The first private equity investments in the NFL have begun. The Buffalo Bills are now 10% private equity controlled. And the Miami Dolphins are now 10% owned by private equity as well.
